Alan Thicke as Dr. Jason Seaver
Alan Thicke's shocking death from a heart attack at age 69 has left Hollywood devastated. From 1985 to 1992, he was the patriarch of the Seaver family on Growing Pains, the hit sitcom created by Neal Marlens. Thicke's performance as Dr. Jason Seaver was so beloved that he even earned a Golden Globe nomination in 1988.
Thicke is the first member of the main cast to die and any reunion without him would feel like a travesty. He did play Dr. Seaver again in the 2000 TV movie The Growing Pains Movie
and played the role one last time in Growing Pains: Return of the Seavers
It never really felt like Dr. Seaver left us because Thicke himself never did. The Canadian-born actor remained busy until the moment he died, recently appearing in the pilot for This Is Us
and starring in his own reality show parody Unusually Thicke
to see what the other members of the Growing Pains
cast are up to these days. (Getty)
