Kata Sarka is a Hungarian beauty queen and model who claims that Donald Trump asked her out and grabbed her hand during the 2013 Miss Universe pageant in Moscow. She told the story during an episode of Kasza Taxi, a show similar to James Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke” segments on The Late Late Show, back in May 2016. However, it just gained attention in the past week in light of the unverified claims in a dossier about Trump’s close ties to Russia.
The Trump transition team did not comment on Sarka’s claims when Buzzfeed reported on it on January 13. However, Trump did attend the 2013 Miss Universe pageant in Moscow and he hoped to meet Vladimir Putin there.
Here’s a look at Sarka’s claims and who she is.
1. Sarka Claims Trump Grabbed Her Hand & Gave Her His Private Number
In the Kasza Taxi segment seen above, the 30-year-old Sarka tells host Kasza Tibor that she saw a man with bodyguards approach her at a Moscow hotel.
“He grabbed my hand like this,” she claims. “He was standing in the middle of a group of bodyguards, he grabbed my hand, he pulled me towards himself, and he asked, ‘Who are you?’ He asked in English. Then, I was so surprised, I’ll tell you who it was in a moment, I was so surprised that I couldn’t say anything except ‘Hungary.’”
She continued, “He gave me his business card with his private number, and he told me in which hotel, which room he was staying in, and that his name is Donald Trump.”
However, Sarka did not call Trump or meet him again, saying that he was “not her type,” notes the Budapest Business Journal.
2. Sarka Was Not at the 2013 Miss Universe Competition as Miss Hungary, but as the CEO of Magyarország Szépe Kft.
Sarka was not in Moscow at the time as Miss Hungary. She was there as the CEO of Magyarország Szépe Kft., she told the Budapest Business Journal. At the time, the company was responsible for putting together the Miss Universe Hungary pageant.
“He asked me who I was and what I was doing in Moscow. He was kind; he gave me his business card with his private phone number and invited me over to his room. I was surprised but, obviously, I did not take it seriously,” she recalled in an interview with the Budapest Business Journal.
Sarka did compete in the 2007 Miss Universe Hungary pageant, but was the runner-up. She was also voted the Most Beautiful Girl in Budapest that year.
3. Sarka Showed Off the Business Card Trump Gave Her as Evidence of Their Meeting
Although Sarka first told her story in May, the story didn’t get noticed again until November 21, after Trump won the election. Sarka spoke with Bilkk about it and showed the Hungarian site the “private” business card Trump allegedly gave her. Included the address to Trump Tower and his phone and fax numbers.
Sarka claimed she was there with her husband, Peter Hajdu, as well as an executive from Magyarország Szépe Kft. and the executive’s wife. Still, Trump grabbed her arm, Sarka claims.
4. Sarka Was Already Married at the Time of Her Alleged Encounter With Trump
Sarka, who was born in Cegled, Hungary, was already married at the time of her alleged encounter with Trump. In 2008, she married Peter Hajdu. They have two children, Noemi Hajdu and David Hajdu.
Unfortunately, it looks like the couple are splitting up, if they haven’t already. Their crumbling relationship has played out in the Hungarian media. On January 14, Blikk reported that Sarka had to respond to claims that Hajdu was cheating on her with a Facebook post. On his own Facebook page, Hajdu insisted that he would never say anything bad about Sarka.
All this came after Hajdu’s interview with Hungary’s Life, in which he talked about how terrible 2016 was for him as his marriage crumbled. He said that Rudyard Kipling’s poem “if” “characterized” his life in the past year.
5. Sarka Is a Barack Obama Fan, Based on her Instagram Page
“#Bestcouple #bestwife #dreamteam #bye,” she wrote in the caption.
Sarka’s Instagram page is filled with photos of herself and her family. In fall 2016, she took her children to Walt Disney World in Florida.
