Jidenna’s long awaited album The Chief is set to release on February 17th. He’s been working on this album for at least two years and in the meantime, has been performing his music at concerts and festivals everywhere.

Jidenna hit the music scene with his debut single “Classic Man” in 2015, which was on the Wondaland Presents: The Eephus EP. The song featured his label mate Roman GianArthur, both artists on Wondaland Records which is Janelle Monae’s label. Besides Jidenna, the Wondaland roster includes Roman GianArthur, Deep Cotton and St. Beauty. Jidenna also made an appearance on Janelle’s single “Yoga”.

XXL reported that the album was originally set to release last year; Jidenna even had a listening party in August 2016. Back in 2015, he dropped the album’s first single “Long Live the Chief”. Jidenna released the album’s second single “Chief Don’t Run” last year.

This year Jidenna’s single “Bambi” was put out a week before his album’s release date. Days later the video for his single “The Let Out” was released, the video features Nana Kwabena who co-produced “Classic Man”. However, the album version of the single has Quavo of Migos instead of Nana.

The album will feature fellow Wondaland Records artists Janelle Monae, Roman Gianarthur,, and St. Beauty. Jidenna’s album The Chief is available for pre-orders on iTunes and will officially be out February 17th.
