Valentine’s Day is the day of love, and if you’re ready to propose, but aren’t quite sure how to do it, look no further. Whether you’re looking to go big or to make it more intimate, we’ve got some ideas to get you started on planning the perfect proposal.
1. Take Your Loved One Back to the Place You First Met

What better idea than to bring your significant other back to the place where you two met? If you met in college, go back to the dorm or classroom where you met, and have the room prepped with candles and roses, so you can pop the question. You can even have your families waiting there as an extra surprise to make the day even more special. If you met at a bar, rent out the bar and have friends and family and loved ones waiting for a toast.
2. The Fake Out

The Knot proposes (see what I did there?) a great idea for popping the big question. Go to a special spot and have a passerby take a picture of you and your significant other. When they count down 3, 2, 1, to take the picture, drop down on your knee and pop the question. They’ll never see it coming, and you’ll most likely have crowds to congratulate you afterwards!
3. Go Big or Go Home

Lead up to the big question! Over the course of the day, place little “I Love You” gifts everywhere– her pocket, wallet, purse, even her sock drawer. Have flowers delivered to her office! At the end of the day– perhaps over a dinner– ask her or him to marry you! For added romance, place roses in a path leading to the dinner table.

Another good option? If you and your loved one are homebodies, hire a chef to come and make you two a home-cooked meal. You can even have him present the ring on a dinner plate before you get down on one knee.
