WATCH: ‘Logan’ Super Bowl Trailer

The new trailer for Logan, the third solo film centered on Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine character from the X-Men franchise, was released during the Super Bowl. It’s expected to be the darkest Wolverine movie yet.

Logan hits theaters on March 3 and pairs Jackman with newcomer Dafne Keen as X-23. Patrick Stewart also plays Professor Xavier.

Logan is directed by James Mangold, who also helmed the acclaimed 2013 film The Wolverine. It’s also rated R, which Jackman lobbied for.

The story is centered in an apocalyptic future. Here’s the full synopsis:

In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hideout on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.

The script, by Michael Green, Scott Frank and Mangold, is based on the Old Man Logan comics written by Mark Millar and Steve McNiven. Jackman plans to make this his final performance as Logan, a character he first played in 2000’s X-Men movie.

The rest of the cast includes Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant, Stephen Merchant, Erig La Salle, Elise Neal and Elizabeth Rodriguez.
