‘Dancing With the Stars’ 2017 Cast: Meet the Season 24 DWTS Contestants

"Dancing With the Stars" 2017 Cast

The 2017 premiere of Dancing With the Stars is finally here and there are 12 new celebrity contestants in the mix, with a ton of familiar faces as the pro dancers this season. Judges Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, Julianne Hough and Bruno Tonioli are back as well. Unfortunately, there are some favorites who are not a part of season 24. Derek Hough, Tony Dovolani and Mark Ballas are not back in the ballroom. Hough has joined Jennifer Lopez's new upcoming reality competition series World of Dance as a judge, so that's been keeping him busy. Hough previously told TV Guide that: I don't know if I'll be back next season. It's too early to say. I have a few projects on my plate, but you never know what's going to happen. I didn't think I was going to come back to the show a couple times now and ended up coming back. That show will always be my family. Two pros who previously said they would not be a part of the show this season are new parents Peta Murgatroyd and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who are engaged to get married. Fortunately, the couple surprised fans in an announcement on Good Morning America, revealing that they would, indeed, return for season 24. In a recent interview on The View, DWTS co-host Tom Bergeron joked about the new parents being back in the ballroom, saying: I’ll be doing some sort of backstage babysitting, I would imagine. I was really pleased that they’re both going to do it, because Shai is just a couple of months old. Bergeron also joked about the couple going head to head against each other, saying "Things could get ugly." Now that we've got the rundown on what to expect from the pros this season, let's get into the background on each of the contestants in our DWTS gallery. Find out about each of their first performances, their pro partners and who they are outside the ballroom. (ABC/DWTS)
