Tonight is the season 12 finale of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, but don’t worry– the show will be coming back for at least two more seasons. In April of last year, TVLine reported that It’s Always Sunny had been renewed for seasons 13 and 14, making it tie with The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet for the longest-running live-action comedy series in television history.

When can we expect Season 13 to kick off? It’s Always Sunny typically has a winter premiere (season 12 premiered on January 4, season 11 premiered on January 6, and season 10 premiered on January 14.) It’s therefore likely that we can expect Season 13 to premiere in early to mid January 2018. So, we’ve got some time.

The gang needs a break, as it is. Kaitlin Olson has been busy starring in FOX’s “The Mick”, Charlie Day’s film “First Fight” recently premiered, and Danny DeVito is taking the stage in the Broadway revival of Arthur Miller’s “The Price”.

In a recent interview with CBS Boston, Charlie Day spoke about the show’s longevity. “There’s always the conversation of ‘how long can we keep doing it?’ But it’s interesting, I can’t tell you the reaction I’m getting [for the new season]. There are more and more people coming up to me and saying they love this year… The ratings are actually higher, through the roof, so you look at it and say ‘why would I stop?’ We’re still doing funny stuff, the fanbase is still there and it’s still a fun job to have. It would be crazy just to quit.”

Day is right– the ratings have been higher. According to a January article by Deadline, the second episode was up 4% in adults 18-49 and +6% in total viewers– it’s officially the most-watched original telecast of all FXX shows in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, and total viewers. To date, it has a whopping 98% on Rotten Tomatoes.
