Tom Hiddleston as James Conrad
It's been three years since Gareth Edwards' Godzilla hit theaters, but the next chapter in Legendary's MonsterVerse is finally here. Kong: Skull Island opens in theaters on March 10, with early screenings starting the night before. In addition to being a reboot of the King Kong franchise, it sets up the eventual battle between the giant ape and the giant lizard.
Kong: Skull Island is set shortly after the Vietnam War, with Tom Hiddleston starring as James Conrad, a former British Special Air Service Captain hired by Monarch to lead an expedition of Skull Island. The expedition finds the island full of monsters, including the giant King Kong. Brie Larson comes along for the ride as photojournalist Mason Weaver, who thinks that the expedition is just a cover-up for a military operation. The film was directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts and runs exactly two hours.
Hiddleston is best known for his role as Loki in Thor and other Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. The London-born actor also won a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Limited Series or Made-For-TV Movie for The Night Manager, which aired on AMC in the U.S. Hiddleston plays Loki again in Thor: Ragnarok.
