Hugh Davidson as Hugh
Melissa McCarthy returns to television with the new TV Land show Nobodies. McCarthy and her husband, actor and director Ben Falcone, co-executive produce the show and both appear in the season premiere. The show debuts on TV Land at 10 p.m. ET on Wednesday, March 29.
In the series, real-life Groundlings alumni Hugh Davidson, Larry Dorf and Rachel Ramras play fictionalized versions of themselves. The trio, who also created the show, have been stuck writing a successful children's show for years and hope to finally break into movies. They sell a pitch to Paramount called Mr. First Lady, in which McCarthy will play the U.S. President. Unfortunately, they haven't actually convinced McCarthy to really be in the movie. They have a bunch of famous friends and hope that their connections will make them famous.
TV Land has high hopes for the show, since it already renewed it for a second season that will air in 2018. The first season runs 12 episodes.
In real life, Hugh Davison is an Emmy-winning writer thanks to his work on Robot Chicken in 2010. He's been nominated for four other Emmys as a member of the Robot Chicken writing team. As an actor, Davidson has mostly done animation voice work, contributing to The Looney Tunes Show, Robot Chicken and Mike Tyson Mysteries. Click through to meet the other stars of Nobodies! (Getty)
