The new episode of The CW’s Supergirl not only brings back Lynda Carter, but also director Kevin Smith! In the new episode, “Distant Sun,” Kara finds herself the target of bounty hunters and President Olivia Marsdin gives J’onn a really strange order. Read on for a preview of the episode and to see the trailer.

The last time we saw Kara was actually on The Flash episode “Duet,” as Mon-El and J’onn took her to Barry Allen’s dimension to save her from a coma Music Meister put her in. But Music Meister also put Barry in a coma, and the two superheroes had to play their part in a musical fantasy. It ended with the two romantic couples in each show getting back together.

For Supergirl, it was an important episode, since we saw Mon-El apologize for not telling Kara all the details about his life. You know, like the fact that he was really the Prince of Daxam and a lazy guy who only cared about himself.

In “Distant Sun,” it looks like Mon-El’s mom Rhea (Teri Hatcher) is still hanging around earth, as his parents try to understand why he wants to stay instead of reclaiming his birthright. Meanwhile, there’s a bounty on Kara’s head and aliens from National City and the rest of the universe want to cash-in. This certainly would be a good time for her cousin to help out, but he’s probably too busy.

J’onn also has his own problem, after President Marsdin gives him a strange order. Remember, the last time we saw the President, it was revealed that she was really an alien.

Maggie and Alex’s relationship will also face a test when Alex meets Emily, Magge’s ex-girlfriend. Haley Sales (Heartbeat, Cedar Cove) plays Emily.

Last but not least, “Distant Sun” was also directed by Kevin Smith. He previously directed the excellent episode “Supergirl Lives,” which aired in January. He also helmed two episodes of The Flash last year.
