It’s not exactly what Tool fans were holding out since 2006 for, but new music from Maynard James Keenan has hit the internet.

Maynard and the band A Perfect Circle played a brand new song “Feathers,” during a show at The Pearl in Las Vegas on April 7. The band is playing two more nights in Vegas before embarking on its tour.

To listen to it, watch the video below.

In typical APC fashion, the song features Maynard’s softer voice with guitar riffs and piano sounds streaming through its entirety. It starts off with a slow buildup with a steady beat of drums kicking in as the refrain hits. The song continues to crescendo until the end with Maynard’s phrase “let them all be better” kicking off a minute-long sequence of the full band in harmony.

There hasn’t been a studio album release from APC in 13 years — eMOTIVe — but the band put out a song in 2013 titled “By and Down.”

That long-awaited new album, while it isn’t Tool, will likely be released later this year, the band’s guitarist and founder Bill Howerdel said in a statement March 30, adding that a new deal had been signed with a company.

We just signed a new record deal with BMG! Looking forward to sharing new music with you soon. New APC-2017

A release date on that album is unknown, but “Feathers” figures to be on the track list. In the meantime, APC is busy with a full U.S. tour for the first time since 2011.
