Tonight, Discovery Channel will air a 2-hour special ahead of the show’s official Season 13 return next week. That’s right– next Tuesday, the Emmy award-winning series will come back for its Season 13 premiere. The official release date is set for April 11, 2017, at 9pm ET, on Discovery.

It’s possible this will be Sig Hansen’s last season on the show– the fishing captain suffered a heart attack last year that he’s still recovering from.

It’s also officially Captain Jonathan Hillstrand’s last season on The Time Bandit.

In February, the crew of The Destination was lost at sea. The boat went missing on February 11, and a search and rescue team was able to eventually locate its radio beacon and what Yahoo describes as a “debris field” containing buoys, a life ring, and an oil sheet from the boat. On February 15, the Coast Guard suspended the search for the missing six-man crew. While The Destination itself was not featured on Deadliest Catch, the show’s cast knew the men onboard and have expressed their condolences to the families of the crew. The members of The Destination were Capt. Jeff Hathaway, Larry O’Grady, Charles Glenn Jones, Raymond Vincler, Kai Hamik, and Darrik Siebold.

In a promo for Season 13, which you can check out here, Sig explains that Season 13 may be cursed– 13 isn’t a lucky number. Captain Keith states, “It’s season 13 of Deadliest Catch. I don’t like that number. We’re superstitious by nature– we try not to use the number 13. I’m saying it right now cause I’m not on the boat. On deck if they give me a count they won’t give me that number they’ll give me ’12 + 1.'” Put lightly, this season is bound to be an intense one.
