WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD! Tonight is an all-new episode of Grey's Anatomy, and as usual, the episode will delve into some emotional situations that bring morals, values, and human life into question. After Alex operates on a young patient without parental consent, he's (once again) threatened with jail time... as well as a potential dismissal from Grey Sloan. Though ABC hasn't released many details about the patient Alex is operating on, we know that Alex going to be at odds with Eliza over how to treat the young boy. "Alex", reports the Econo Times, "believes that only surgery can help the patient. [He] insisted that the boy took the train by himself to ask the doctors help." In the promo for tonight's episode, Eliza tells Alex, "We can't keep a minor for treatment against his parent's will. Especially when that treatment goes against their religious beliefs. They have a right to those beliefs and we have to respect that." Alex fights back, "What if his tumor stars to bleed?" It all culminates in a heated scene between him and the boy's father, who screams, "You had no right to touch him!" Meanwhile, it seems that things are changing for Stephanie, who could be leaving Grey Sloan for other opportunities. This aligns with what we know is going on behind the scenes-- in January, TVLine reported that actress Jerrika Hinton, who plays Dr. Stephanie Edwards, will not be returning to season 14 as a series regular. The actress has landed a starring role in a new HBO drama series, and will likely be focusing on that. Tonight's episode is titled "Leave It Inside", and the synopsis reads, "April and Andrew consult with a fiery patient who has a giant, inoperable heart tumor. Meanwhile, Alex and Eliza are at odds over the treatment of a young patient; and Stephanie and Ben make decisions that could affect their careers." Tonight, actor Matthew Alan will play the boy’s father on Grey’s Anatomy. Fans of the show may recognize Alan– he’s dating Camilla Luddington (Jo Wilson) in real life. The couple just gave birth to their first child together, Hayden, in April. Luddington announced the news in an Instagram post that read, “I am SO excited to FINALLY share with you all news that I’ve managed to keep secret for what seems like forever now… I am pregnant!!!!!! This girl gets to be a ‘cool mom’ ha!” Recently, Alan appeared in the talked-about Netflix series 13 Reasons Why as Seth, who dates Justin’s mom on the show. Other credits on his resume include Lethal Weapon, Scorpion, Longmire, Major Crimes, NCIS: New Orleans, The Night Shift, The Mentalist, and Murder in the First.
