Tonight, season 3 of the ABC’s hit docuseries, In An Instant, returns.
Viewers will learn about the Stolpa family, who was stranded on their way to a funeral in 1992. The family was traveling from Northern California to Idaho when they encountered a major blizzard and were trapped in their pickup truck for three days. Broadway World explains that the family found refuge by a cliff for a short period of time, but eventually, Jim Stolpa was forced to hike to a small town, where he found a man who helped him rescue his wife, Jennifer, and their five-month-old son, Clayton.
20/20: In an Instant, is executively produced by Maria Awes and Any Awes. The series was introduced on Saturday nights in 2015 to low ratings, but was renewed regardless. In 2016, it averaged .57 in the 18-49 demographic and 3.3 million viewers. For comparison, the first season averaged a .69 in the 18-49 demographic and 3.86 million viewers.

SYNOPSIS: In the third-season opener, a family encounter a blizzard while traveling from California to Idaho for a funeral, eventually embarking on a three-day, 20-mile trek through the wilderness.
Next week, June 10, the second episode of In an Instant will focus on cult leader Victor Barnard and the family who followed him for years. According to Broadway World, the Tornambe family moved to Minnesota to live with Barnard’s cult, which demanded that all families’ first born children live with him. In 2000, Barnard asked 13-year-old Lindsay Tornambe to live with him and nine other “maidens” at his camp in North Minnesota. The family allowed Lindsay to do so, but little did they know, she was forced to endure ten years of sexual abuse at the hands of the cult leader. In 2016, Barnard was arrested and pled guilty to sexual assault. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
