Did Theon Make the Right Decision on ‘Game of Thrones’ [POLL]

HBO

At the end of Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 2, Theon made a decision that left fans divided. But did he make the right decision? And why did he do what he did? Read on for a look at what Theon did and then take our poll at the end of the story and let us know what you think about his decision.

This article has spoilers through Season 7 Episode 2.

Euron Greyjoy attacked the Dornish people and Greyjoy military when they were on their way to lay siege to King’s Landing. He obviously wanted to capture Ellaria Sand, and perhaps Yara too, in order to deliver them as gifts to Cersei. Ellaria will especially be a good choice since she killed Cersei’s daughter.

But while Euron had Yara Greyjoy in his grasp, he called for Theon to come to him and fight. But Theon looked around and, instead, jumped overboard. Why did he do that? And did he make the right decision?

Theon likely made his decision for a couple reasons. He’s not as brave as he used to be. And he suffered extreme torture at Ramsay’s hand. He looked around and saw Euron’s men torturing the people they captured, and he likely could not face that torture again.

After what he’s been through, Theon also is likely suffering PTSD, which makes facing this situation pretty much impossible for him.

Euron is also a very accomplished fighter, and realistically Theon wouldn’t have much of a chance against him. And even if he did win, they were outnumbered. Why wouldn’t he still be killed anyway?

Strategically, even though Theon swore allegiance to Yara, he couldn’t protect her if he was dead. His best chance of helping Yara involved escaping to let Daenerys know what happened.

But do you think Theon made the right decision? Or should he have stayed and fought Euron, even if he couldn’t win? Let us know in the poll below.
