‘Alaskan Bush People’s’ Ami Brown’s Cancer Said To Have Progressed

Ami Brown cancer update

The Discovery Channel

Alaskan Bush People star Ami Brown has been diagnosed with lung cancer. According to Entertainment Weekly, her illness was revealed on a recent episode of the show, but has left fans wondering about her current condition. While it has been reported that the Brown matriarch is currently wheelchair bound, some recent rumors claim that Ami’s cancer is more advanced.

A Facebook page called “Alaskan Bush People Exposed” is known to post information about the Brown family, much of which is not shown on the popular Discovery Channel show. A recent post on the page showed the Brown family out and about, with Ami sitting in a wheelchair. Many fans asked for an update on Ami’s health, and a page admin responded, “now it’s stage 4 in both lungs and inoperable.”

If this is indeed the case, Ami Brown’s prognosis is grim. According to the Cancer Center, the chances of living for five years or longer with stage IV lung cancer is “less than 10 percent.” Research shows that patients who do not receive treatment for stage IV lung cancer only live about two to four months after diagnosis. Those who do receive treatment live six to 12 months.

Brown is currently receiving cancer treatment in Los Angeles.

“So the radiation is 5 days a week for 6 weeks. After the radiation, once a week she goes to the other building and they put an IV in her and she gets chemotherapy for four hours,” executive producer Sheila McCormack told the Brown family on an episode of Alaskan Bush People that aired last month, according to People Magazine.

“Bill and the kids are very loving and supportive. They’re all worried. I tell them, don’t worry. Please don’t worry. Be happy … keep the faith. Good or bad, it’s God’s will and we’ll walk that road. There’s a lot for the kids to experience. I want to be there. I want to hold their babies. I want to hear them laughing … I want to see their eyes wide with enthusiasm as they experience these new things,” Ami said when her diagnosis went public.

Alaskan Bush People airs Wednesdays at 9:00 p.m. Eastern on The Discovery Channel.
