Before we get into the full recap, let’s reveal the winner. And the AGT winner is … Darci Lynne Farmer.

Kicking things off, host Tyra Banks revealed that last night’s votes were the biggest in the show’s history. The show then went into a behind-the-scenes recap of last night’s live show.

First up for the live performances tonight was finalists Angelica Hale and Kechi Okwuchi, singing stronger by Kelly Clarkson. And soon, the two were joined by Clarkson herself, who performed alongside the two contestants, before breaking out into a solo performance. Following the performance, Clarkson talked about how she won American Idol and her upcoming album was announced.

Next up on the show, Light Balance performed to Bruno Mars’ “24 Karat.” At the end of the performance, it was revealed that Derek Hough was one of the dancers included in the performance. Following the set, which also included Diavolo on stage, Tyra Banks performed a pre-taped song and dance number with some of the acts who were buzzed off the show by the judges this season.

Deaf actress Marlee Beth Matlin later took to the stage to announce a performance by Shania Twain and AGT finalist, deaf singer Mandy Harvey. Together, they performed Twain’s song “You’re Still the One.”

Soon, ventriloquist and entertainer Jeff Dunham met up with AGT finalist Darci Lynne Farmer, who is also a finalist. Then, Farmer put on a performance just for the finale episode, alongside AGT season 2 winner, ventriloquist Terry Fator.

Comedian Preacher Lawson was the next finalist to be highlighted and he had the opportunity to hang out with judge Howie Mandel, who is also a comic.

Next on stage was Evie Clair, singing a song, accompanied by a piano, and then joined by singer James Arthur. Finalist Chase Goehring then came out on stage as well to perform.

Finally, at 9:30 p.m. ET, a half hour away from the end of the finale, the top 5 results were revealed. Mandy Harvey and Chase Goehring were each up for the results first … and the act taking the first spot in the top 5 was Harvey. And, next up was Evie Clair vs. Sara and Hero, the dog act, but it was Sara Carson and her beloved pup who made it through. Diavolo and Light Balance were then put against each other for their results … And the act taking the third spot in the top five was … Light Balance. Ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer cried as she was told she was moving on to the top 5 over comedian Preacher Lawson, which meant that there was just one spot left in the top 5. Singers Angelica Hale and Kechi Okwuchi were the final contestants to hear their results … and the contestant taking the last space in the top 5 was Hale.

Coming in fifth place was Sara Carson and her dog Hero, followed by Mandy Harvey, who came in fourth place. And, the act finishing in third place was Light Balance.

And the winner is … Ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer.
