The Comic-Con Trailer:

Here’s a longer first look from AMC’s Twitter. It’s the Season 8 cold open (the first 3 minutes):

Season 8 Photos from the Comic-Con Trailer

Here are some photos to give you an idea of what could be coming in Season 8.

First, screenshots from the Comic-Con trailer and that surprise twist at the end, all courtesy of AMC:

The cane that we first see might be a hint that the show is going to follow a time jump from the comics.

But then the flowers show up, and that gives fans a different impression.

And then we see Rick. His hair and beard are completely grey now, which indicates that quite a bit of time has passed. But his skin isn’t significantly more wrinkled, so it hasn’t been long enough for him to be in the “elderly” category yet.

One theory among fans is that the show is going to do a big time jump that was seen in the comics. After the “all out war” with Negan in the comics, there was a time jump covering the span of several years, where Rick woke up much older and with grey hair.

It seems like it would be a cruel trick of the producers to record something that looked just like a time jump from the comics and then make it a dream. But trailers have been misleading before.

Some fans think this is just a screenshot of Rick dreaming about the future, imagining that everyone had a happy life. He’s either dreaming of some time long after the Negan war, or he’s dreaming about what life would be like if the virus that caused the walkers had never happened. Others think we’ll just see a glimpse of an older Rick thinking back, but nothing more significant than that.

Then there’s the theory from more skeptical fans, who think this means everything has been a dream and Rick is waking up from a coma in the hospital many years later. They point to the flowers near his bedside as an example, because there were flowers by his hospital bed when he woke up in the Season 1 premiere.

Other Season 8 Photos

We’ve been teased endlessly with Carol and Daryl photos from Season 8:

Carol is even seen giving Daryl a hug, worried about him:

AMCCaryl?

Do you remember this scene from the Comic-Con trailer? Who is this person? Is it Rick, caught and stripped down practically naked by Negan?

AMCWho is this?

This shot from the trailer makes me wonder if Carol is remembering her “look at the flowers” line.

And here it looks like Dwight might still be working undercover for Rick’s group.

Jesus and Morgan fighting (likely training together) should be a great scene:

And Simon will be back.

But I’m worried about Shiva, because one trailer made it look like he was surrounded by zombies. :(

Episode Titles & Descriptions for Season 8

You can get a few more clues from episode titles and descriptions for part of Season 8.

Episode 1 — Mercy — October 22 — 67 minutes

Rick and his group, along with the Kingdom and Hilltop, have banded together to bring the fight to Negan and the Saviors.

Episode 2 — The Damned — October 29

The plan involving Alexandrians, Kingdomers and Hilltoppers unfolds; as Rick continues to fight, he encounters a familiar face.

Who could the familiar face be that Rick encounters? Maybe we’ll finally find out what happened with Heath.

Episode 3 — Monsters — November 5

Conflict with the Saviors leads to unintended consequences for the Hilltop, the Kingdom, and Alexandria; morality proves tricky in wartime.

Episode 4 — Some Guy — November 12

A new weapon in the Savior arsenal proves to be a giant hurdle as fighting continues between Rick’s forces and those of the Saviors.

What new weapon could the Saviors possibly have that is turning into such a giant hurdle?

Episode 5 — The Big Scary U — November 19 (Possibly 13 minutes longer in air time)

A close look at Negan and the lives of the Saviors during the conflict through a familiar set of eyes.

We’re hoping that the idea of a “closer look at Negan” entails a backstory about Negan with flashbacks.

Episode 6 — The King, the Widow, and Rick — November 26

With things looking up for Rick and the group, an argument breaks out at the Hilltop; the consequences of the decision are life versus death.

Episode 7 – No Title Yet

Negan has to enlist the help of his lieutenants in solving a huge issue facing the Sanctuary; Rick and the group continue to enact the plan.

Episode 8 – Mid-Season Finale – No Title Yet

Every story and battle from the first half of the season comes crashing together in this action-packed, emotional mid-season finale.
