The 2017 Latin Grammy Awards air tonight on Univision at 8 p.m. ET/PT, with an encore presentation at 11 p.m. ET/PT. For those who would like to watch all the red carpet arrivals, celebrity interviews and backstage footage, their best option is not airing on television tonight. Facebook Live, however, will feature a live stream of the red carpet and backstage coverage. To head over to the Facebook profile page for the Latin Grammys, click here. The live stream will feature interviews from different locations at the event, red carpet coverage, the Latin Grammy Premiere ceremony, backstage footage and additional information. And, it will all begin at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT.
As for televised red carpet footage, one hour before the Latin Grammy Awards telecast, the Univision Network will present a program titled “Noche de Estrellas” (“Night of Stars”), which includes coverage of the celebrity red carpet arrivals, straight from the Latin Grammy Awards. The show starts at 7 p.m. ET/PT and 6 p.m. CT. “Noche de Estrellas” will feature live footage, interviews with the stars and commentary on the fashions of the evening. According to the official Latin Grammys website, the show will “provide viewers with an intimate look at Latin music’s most glamorous event while connecting fans with their favorite celebrities via social media using #LatinGRAMMY.”
Hosts for this year’s event are Roselyn Sanchez and Jaime Camil. Sanchez is an actress, singer and model, who many may know from Rush Hour 2, Chasing Papi and a couple of music artist Craig David’s music videos. Co-host Camil is an actor and singer as well, most known as Fernando Mendiola in La Fea Mas Bella and Rogelio de la Vega in Jane the Virgin. Performers include Steve Aoki, Banda El Recodo De Cruz Lizarraga, Bronco, CNCO, Lila Downs, Nicky Jam, Ha*Ash, Carlos Vives, Sebastian Yatra, Bad Bunny, J Balvin, Alessia Cara, Luis Fonsi, Juanes, Mon Laferte, Natalia Lafourcade, Logic, Maluma, French Montana, Residente, Sofia Reyes, and Flor De Toloache. The Latin Times reports tonight’s presenters include Wilmer Valderrama, Anavitoria, Camila Cabello, Flo Rida, Leslie Grace, Maribel Guardia, Sofia Carson, Erika Ender, Juan Luis Guerra, Rudy Mancuso, Debi Nova, Marco de la O, Alexandre Pires, Lele Pons, Edgar Ramírez, Miguel Angel Silvestre, Olga Tanon, Martina “La Peligrosa” and Rosalia.
Tonight, Lin-Manuel Miranda will be the recipient of The Latin Recording Academy President’s Merit Award for his contributions to the Latin community. Gabriel Abaroa Jr., President/CEO of The Latin Recording Academy, released the following statement about the award, “We are honored to present Mr. Lin-Manuel Miranda with the prestigious President’s Merit Award at this year’s 18th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards in recognition of his artistry, vision and the masterful ways he uses his craft to empower and highlight Latin-related issues in the United States. Lin-Manuel’s urban and social poetry have provided strength and encouragement to every Latino motivated to get ahead. He has brought pride to our community by reminding us of the resilience and fortitude we demonstrate on a daily basis.” Recently, Miranda released a bilingual single titled “Almost Like Praying”. The show tonight will air live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
