Just when you thought there wasn’t going to be any good news this week, what with all this tax bill talk and the like dominating the news, Marvel is here to save the day.

On Tuesday Marvel Studios dropped the first official trailer for Avengers: Infinity War, set to be released on May 4, 2018. Although don’t get too excited fans. The trailer doesn’t provide much in terms of actual footage from the movie. In truth, it doesn’t provide anything in terms of actual footage from the movie. But hey, beggars can’t be choosers, right?

In lieu of scenes from the highly anticipated third Avengers’ movie, the teaser is a series of fan reactions to previous Marvel movies. On a scale of sweet to what the heck, I’d say it’s hovering around a pretty cool. The teaser game is pretty weak to begin with, so we shouldn’t expect much from them anymore, Avengers included.

But come Wednesday morning, all that changes as the first official trailer for the movie is released. Instead of fan reactions, presumably there will be shots of Marvel’s finest in action. Footage from the movie debuted at San Diego Comic-Con this past summer, but this will be the first glimpse of the movie in more of a tightly-packaged clip.

Avengers: Infinity War is set to bring the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe together for the first time. That means that in addition to the Avengers, there will be the Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther, Doctor Strange and more. The cast list is a murderers’ row of Hollywood stars: Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chadwick Boseman, Sebastian Stan, Peter Dinklage, Josh Brolin.

Brolin is set to play the film’s villain Thanos. Thanos will be joined by the Black Order, who are his “children.” They include Corvus Glaive, Proxima Midnight, Ebony Maw and Black Dwarf. Two of Thanos other “children” have already appeared on screen. Nebula (Karen Gillan) and Gamora (Zoe Saldana) have appeared in both Guardians of the Galaxy movies.

Avengers: Infinity War will be followed up by Avengers 4, which is set to be released sometime in 2019. The movies were filmed back to back due to the size of the cast and the headache-inducing schedules that comes with assembling such a large crew of big name actors. Both films are directed by Joe Russo and Anthony Russo, who did both Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War.

Also on Tuesday, the first posters for Avengers: Infinity War were revealed. Tom Holland, who plays Spider-Man, put together an Instagram story, in which he received a package – sorry, a parcel, from co-star Mark Ruffalo, who plays the Hulk/Bruce Banner. The parcel contains a copy of the new poster.

Of course the parcel also contains a note that says “Confidential, do not share,” something Holland doesn’t notice until it’s too late.

Kids these days, huh?
