Both were child stars and both have navigated the transformation from kid to adult actor seamlessly. But are they actually dating one another?
For over a year now, outlets have been reporting that Freddie Highmore and Abigail Breslin are dating. But the two haven’t been documented together, and fans have started to speculate that the rumors aren’t true.
Here’s what we know.
1. There Is No Proof of the Relationship

Although many sites report that the pair are dating, including Who’s Dated Who and Celebs Dating, there is no proof Breslin and Highmore’s relationship.
They have not attended any awards shows together, and neither has said they are dating the other.
Recently, Highmore has been busy filming the TV series The Good Doctor. The Good Doctor marks Highmore’s first project since Bates Motel. According to EW, Highmore read the script for The Good Doctor just three days after his character in Bates Motel was killed off.
In an interview with EW, the actor said, “The thing that I find really compelling about this show is how he has real limitations, but those limitations won’t stop him. There might have to be accommodations made, but he is capable of doing great things.”
2. Breslin Revealed She Was Raped By an Ex-Boyfriend in an April Instagram Message
In April, Breslin took to Instagram to write that she was raped by an ex-boyfriend.
“I did not report my rape. I didn’t report it because of many reasons.” The actress continues, “First off, I was in complete shock and total denial… Second… I was in a relationship with my rapist and feared not being believed. I also feared that if my case didn’t lead anywhere, he would still find out and hurt me even more.”
The Scream Queens star revealed she was diagnosed with PTSD a year and a half prior to posting the Instagram.
3. Breslin’s Instagram Suggests She Is Dating Someone Else Entirely
Highmore and Breslin haven’t appeared in any of one another’s social photos.
In fact, based on Breslin’s Instagram, it appears she is dating a man named Ira Kunyansky. In early November, the actress posted a photo of her kissing Kunyasky. She captioned it, “babekin” with three hearts.
Kunyansky has appeared in a number of Breslin’s Instagram pics. In another photo from September, she is kissing him on the cheek again. The caption reads, “When everythings chill and ur hangin with bae and then someone walks in in the same outfit.”
4. She Will next Star in ‘Saturday at the Starlight’

Towards the end of October, Variety announced that Abigail Breslin and Denise Richards will be starring in the indie comedy Saturday at the Starlight.
The outlet reports that the film will be in the vein of Richard Linklater’s Dazed and Confused, and is set in a roller rink in the mid-90s. The film will also star Tony Cavalero, Booboo Stewart, Brec Bassinger, Brenna D’Amico, and Brian Huskey. The screenplay comes from Jake Disch and Nick Gligor
5. Highmore Was Previously Linked to Dakota Fanning

In 2009, Highmore was linked to Dakota Fanning.
According to an article in Pop Sugar at the time, the two went out to dinner at Il Cielo in LA not long after appearing at Comic-Con.
Apart from Fanning, Highmore has been linked to actress Sarah Bolger. Bolger is best known for her roles in In America, The Spiderwick Chronicles and for her role as Lady Mary Tudor in The Tudors.
