Destiny: Rise of Iron’ – How to Obtain the Khvostov 7G-0X Exotic Weapon

Khvostov 7G-0X, Destiny

(Bungie)

The Khvostov 7G-0X is the very first weapon you ever get when playing through Destiny and to many players has serious sentimental value. Even though the gun was virtually useless, a large number of users would actually hold onto this weapon as a keepsake, which is thankfully going to pay off with the newest expansion Rise of Iron.

Bungie announced early on that the Khvostov 7G-0X will actually become an exotic weapon that players will be able to obtain via completing a side mission about putting the gun together. The first way, and obviously the easiest, is by dismantling your original Khvostov which will instantly give you the exotic quest. However, unless you want to start from scratch to get this gun, it’s not ideal for veteran players.

It’s possible to obtain this weapon in the field via a hidden side boss that is located in the Cosmodrome. In order to get this weapon go to the area where the Fallen Tank used to fight before the expansion (it’s since been covered by snow) and head towards the wall. Fight your way through the wall until you reach a long hallway full of laser beams and a console next to it.

You’ll need an Intel Relay (Which can be obtained by killing high-level Hive or Fallen in the Plaguelands) to progress, so make sure to stock up before venturing out. Once you exit the wall you should see a massive Fallen Ketch and your Ghost will give you some dialogue about a Pilot Servitor.

Move to the Ketch and kill al of the Fallen (including the boss) inside the main loading bay. Once this is done you should be able to open a chest in the back right which will instantly give you the a key item to start building this exotic. Go back to Felwinter and talk to Shiro-4 who will give you the official quest for the Khvostov 7G-0X. “We Found a Rifle” will ask you to collect 10 Manual Pages and 3 Khvostov Parts which can be done by patrolling he Plaguelands and killing Devil Splicers.

Manual Pages can be found by just killing Splicers throughout the Plaguelands, while the parts are a bit trickier. You can find 2 of them as you make your way through the Sepiks Prime strike via patrolling the Plagueland version of the Cosmodrome. One will be right before the Hive/Fallen fight and another in the large building in the middle of the Splicer Tank fight. The last one is actually located under the staircase in the area where you retrieved your first spaceship. Gather these and then return to the Iron Tower so you can get the last mission.

Follow this quest to the end and you will be able to obtain this powerful assault rifle and relive fond memories of when you were a baby Guardian. Trust me, the last few moments of this strike are both amusing, humbling, and a bit of a tear jerker. Make sure to bring some tissues with you if you plan to go for this gun.
