‘Destiny’: Xur Location and Gear September 16-18

Destiny-Xur

(Bungie)

With less than a week left before the next Destiny expansion drops, it’s time for Xurs last visit during the “Year 2” saga. This weekend he can be found once more on the left-hand side of the tower, just across from where The Speaker is located. His inventory this week is a decent pool of exotics, but nothing to get especially hyped over. However, you may want to stock up on as many Three of Coins packs as you can, since the actually DLC is going to release before this mysterious vendor shows up.

Outside of his normal items, Xur is selling the No Backup Plans for the Titan, ATS/8 Tarantella for the Hunter, and the Heart of the Praxic Fire for our Warlock friends. He is also offering the powerful Plan C fusion rifle and a Legacy Primary Weapon Engram for anyone trying to fill out their collection.

No Back Up Plans

  • Roll: Strength
  • Armor: Gauntlets
  • Cost: 13 Strange Coins
  • Unique Perk: Shotgun kill trigger Force Barrier and Force Barrier’s duration is increased.

The No Backup Plans are a terrific exotic for both the PvE and PvP user. Thanks to its passive abilities it can lend any Titan using the Defender subclass a major advantage in fights. This is especially true since shotguns have been dominating the current meta, making the ability to instantly trigger Force Barrier fantastic. If you are a shotgun user who likes to charge into the chaos this exotic will be right up your alley.

ATS/8 Tarantella

  • Roll: Intellect/Discipline
  • Armor: Chest
  • Cost: 13 Strange Coins
  • Unique Perk: Reduce Arc damage from minions of the Darkness. Arc grenades and Arc Blade recharges faster.

If you are a fan of using the Blade Dancer subclass on your Hunter then picking up the ATS/8 Tarantella should be a priority. While there are fantastic evasion exotics available to the Hunter, the ATS/8 offers a lot of value for one piece of armor. Not only is the damage resistance great, but the boost to two of your most potent weapons is quite powerful. This is especially true if you have maxed our your Discipline and Strength, so the cooldown time for your grenades are reduced even more.

Heart of the Praxic Fire

  • Roll: Intellect/Discipline
  • Armor: Chest
  • Cost: 13 Strange Coins
  • Unique Perk: When Radiance is active you receive increased Agility and decreased ability cooldowns.

This exotic is really hit or miss since most people typically run the Ressurection ability for their Sunsinger’s ultimate. Effectively this makes it easier for you to escape or kill those around you when activated, which is always important on objective based game modes. Yet, for PvE the Heart of the Praxic Fire is just slightly underwhelming and will really only suit a Sunsinger who uses his super aggressively.

Plan C

  • Secondary Weapon: Fusion Rifle
  • Cost: 23 Strange Coins
  • Unique Perk: Charge and equip times are very short after a weapon swap.

Hey, do you like the idea of killing your enemies in a burst of energy, but hate the extremely long charge up times? Well if this sounds like you then the Plan C is the exotic secondary weapon for you. This is a powerhouse weapon in PvP thanks to the quick kill time it has once swapped. It will take some time to actually get used to this odd way of playing, but the Plan C is a weapon not to be underestimated. If you’re looking for a new weapon for the Crucible this may end up being the weapon for you.

With Rise of Iron only a few days away, make sure to pick up any items that you may end up needing before Xur shows up again. It’s also important to note that if you see Guardians what lights swarming around their head, this is a new “virus” that Bungie has begun to spread throughout the community.

Now there’s no definitive answer on how to exactly spread this so called virus, but once you have it will offer you both an XP and reputation boost. You can also have more than one virus swarming around your character, but this is a difficult feat to accomplish. Best of luck out there Guardians, we will see you in Year 3 of Destiny.
