While the game lineup may not be quite as impressive as last week, there are still a number of new video game releases this week to look forward to.
To ensure that gamers don’t miss a single new video game release date, we are compiling a list of all the notable new releases on a week-to-week basis. The games coming out this week include a few AAA titles along with a number of highly unique indie games that might be worth your time if you’re looking for something different to play. To keep you occupied until some of this year’s bigger game releases, here is a list of games releasing the week of September 5-9 which spans all consoles and platforms.

Monday, September 5
Mother Russia Bleeds (PC): This is a co-op side-scrolling brawler set in an alternate U.S.S.R. in which you and up to four friends play as a group of imprisoned street fighters struggling with an addiction to the Russian Mafia’s new drug. You get this drug by filling a syringe from your slain enemies, and then inject it for health or to enter berserk mode. The developer describes the Streets of Rage-inspired game as an “ultra-violent beat ’em up”, and this classification seems highly appropriate.
Space Rangers: Quest (PC): We know little about this game aside from what is on the Steam page, which describes it as a text adventure set in the universe of Space Rangers. There is a mysterious threat against the Coalition, which you must investigate and defend life from in a series of epic text-based battles.
Tuesday, September 6
The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 2 (PS3, PS Vita): This sequel to JRPG Trails of Cold Steel picks up a month after the end of the original story, with Rean waking up alone and setting off on a quest to reunite with Class VII. It was released in Japan back in 2014 and is now being localized for Western audiences. Buy The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 2 here.
DOGOS (PS4): Current technology, such as 3D graphics, adds a dynamic element to this retro-inspired shoot ’em up game in which Earth has been invaded by biomechanical beings known as Zeetnucks. You will control Resistance pilot Desmond Pheonix in his KZ 72 in this action-packed schmup, which lets you move freely as though it were open world.
Just Sing (Xbox One, PS4): This karaoke rhythm game from Ubisoft features 50 songs, a combination of both classic hits and new releases. In lieu of a USB microphone, it requires players to connect their smartphone to the game via a downloadable app and then hold the phone in front of them selfie-style to broadcast their audio and video to the game. Qurare: Magic Library (PS4): The card battle RPG, which was released in Asia earlier this year, is now getting a North American release. Players will work together with three librarians at the Qurare Magic Library to rebuild the Library of Babel, which has mysteriously exploded and scattered stories throughout dimensions.
The Tomorrow Children (PS4): This free-to-play indie sandbox adventure is a sort of post-apocalyptic, dystopian Minecraft. Players will cooperate as “projection clones” in an alternate-future Soviet Union to rebuild civilization, which has been nearly wiped out by a catastrophic science experiment gone wrong.
Touhou Genso Rondo: Bullet Ballet (PS4): Initially released in Japan for the PC, this shoot ’em up game is now getting a full HD remaster for the PS4. This bullet hell is reminiscent of a fighting game with unique 1v1 battles and features a cast of 10 playable characters as well as online play. Buy Bullet Ballet here.
Wednesday, September 7
Awesomenauts Assemble! (Xbox One): This 3v3 platforming shooter MOBA allows for both online and local multiplayer with up to three people. The original Awesomenauts was released four years ago on Steam; the updated version, Awesomenauts Assemble!, came to PS4 in 2014 and is now being ported to Xbox One.
DOGOS (Xbox One, PC): The aforementioned shoot ’em up game is coming to Xbox One and PC the day after its PS4 release.
Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas (PS4, Xbox One): After getting its start as a mobile game, this Zelda-like action-adventure game was later ported to PC (where it met with positive reviews) and is now coming to next-gen consoles. It follows a boy on an epic quest to rescue his father by unraveling the secrets of the ancient Kingdom of Arcadia and slaying the sea monster, Oceanhorn.
Unbox (PC): This unique-looking 3D platformer has players controlling a self-delivering cardboard box in service of the Global Postal Service (GPS). Bounce and roll your customizable cardboard box through puzzles and levels in solo mode, or play split-screen with up to four players and 11 different maps.
Thursday, September 8
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice (3DS): This visual novel from Capcom is the sixth main installment in the Ace Attorney series, and is coming West after being released in Japan last June. The story follows the adventures os defense attorneys Phoenix Wright and Apollo Justice, and players must help them solve a variety of cases using a combination of investigative techniques from previous games and brand-new ones like Divination Séance.
Jotun: Valhalla Edition (Wii U): Players control a Viking Warrior named Thora in this hand-drawn action-exploration game based on Norse mythology. Thora has died an inglorious death and now must prove herself to the Gods in order to enter Valhalla. The Valhalla Edition features the new Valhalla mode, which allows you to battle fiercer versions of the Jotun.
Halo 5: Forge (PC): The map-editing tool from Halo 5 is coming to Windows 10 with features including keyboard and mouse support, increased resolution, the ability to test and play with friends, and publishing to Xbox One.
Friday, September 9
Jotun: Valhalla Edition (PS4, Xbox One): Described above, the PS4/Xbox One version of Jotun: Valhalla Edition follows a day after the Wii U version.
The Elder Scrolls Online Gold Edition (PC, PS4, Xbox One): The Gold Edition of the popular MMO includes the base game along with all DLC game packs, plus a palomino horse mount and 500 crowns for the in-game store.
King Oddball (Xbox One, PC): This cult classic physics-based puzzle game (similar to Angry Birds) is making its way to Xbox One and Steam. The basic objective is to time the release of a boulder swinging from King Oddball’s tongue in order to achieve maximum destruction in over 120 increasingly difficult levels.
Stardust Galaxy Warriors: Stellar Climax (Xbox One, PS4, PC): Stellar Climax is an update to the highly-rated couch co-op action shooter Stardust Galaxy Warriors that adds a new player character, Amber Fox, in addition to three new game modes, a revised upgrade system, performance improvements, and bug fixes.
