‘The Last Guardian’ Delayed To December

The Last guardian delayed until December

PlayStation announced on their official blog this morning that The Last Guardian has been delayed “a few weeks”.

The action adventure game from Sony has already been subject to numerous delays; it was initially announced back in 2009 and slated to launch two years later. The delay is only a short one this time and reportedly only to polish the final product, so hopefully this is the last one we’ll see and The Last Guardian will release in time for the holidays. According to Sony Worldwide Studio President Shuhei Yoshida:

Fumito Ueda, gen DESIGN and JAPAN Studio have a wonderful vision for The Last Guardian’s touching, emotional journey…we want to deliver the most polished experience possible for our fans who have supported us for so long. A delay is a difficult decision, particularly with this game, but we have encountered more bugs than anticipated while in the final stages of development. To ensure that The Last Guardian delivers on the experience that the game’s creators have envisioned, we need to take the extra time to work on those issues.

He also goes on to add that they “look forward to revealing new content toward launch”.

Considering the timing of the recent PS4 Pro announcement, we can’t help but wonder if at least part of the reason for the delay is to add PS4 Pro support and whether The Last Guardian will be among the lineup of upcoming PS4 Pro games. Considering that the game is being published by Sony, this seems plausible, but nothing official has been announced yet.

The Last Guardian is now scheduled to release on December 6, 2016 for PlayStation 4.
