‘Destiny’: Xur Location and Gear October 14-16

Destiny-Xur

(Bungie)

Everyone’s favorite mysterious Destiny vendor Xur has arrived once more and is looking to drain us of all our hard earned Strange Coins. This week he can be found at the Tower on the left-hand side of the map. From the spawn head towards The Speaker and you should see Xur hanging out by the railing at the far end of the walkway. This week’s inventory is full of old fan favorites, with the exception of a Year 3 exotic weapon that we’re sure a lot of people will be happy to see up for sale.

In addition to his weapons and armor, Xur is also selling a Gauntlet Engram for those looking to hopefully grab one of the new exotic arm pieces. This is the first time inrecent memory he has sold an engram that wasn’t of the Legacy format and could mean an easy way for others to rank up. He is also offering up the MoonGlow and Storm’s Reproach weapon ornaments for the Hawkmoon and Invective respectively. Both of these will cost you 25 Silver Dust and are by far is most expensive items.

MK. 44 Stand Asides

  • Armor: Legs
  • Roll: Intellect/Strength
  • Cost: 13 Strange Coins
  • Unique Perk: Increase the duration of Shoulder Charge and tighter turn radius while sprinting.

The bane of crucible players is currently on sale and will certainly cause a spike in the number of players using the Striker subclass. In a meta where up close and personal makes up a lot of the matches, this exotic can be an excellent addition to any Titan’s kit. However, they aren’t terribly useful for PvE as the perks offered just don’t come into play that often. This is strictly a PvP exotic, so make sure to consider that before buying them.

Bones of Eao

  • Armor: Legs
  • Roll: Intellect/Strength
  • Cost: 13 Strange Coins
  • Unique Perk: Upgrade Double Jump with an additional jump.

While the addition of another jump may seem trivial to some, it’s important to not underestimate the power of this exotic. This is one that’s run by a lot of Hunters in PvP thanks to the added maneuverability when playing. Gaining a triple jump can let you reach areas you couldn’t normally get too and can be used to effectively gain the upper hand in firefights. That being said, they aren’t terribly useful for PvE outside of jumping sections as this exotic just doesn’t offer enough value when running a raid or the Weekly Nightfall.

Sunbreakers

  • Armor: Gauntlets
  • Roll: Discipline/Strength
  • Cost: 13 Strange Coins
  • Unique Perk: Increase duration of your Solar Grenade while gaining an additional Solar Grenade charge.

The Sunbreakers are a well rounded exotic that can work well with Sunsingers who do not want to throw Fusion Grenades. Given that the Solar variant of your grenades is all about damage over time, this exotic can be useful for raid bosses like Aksis or Vosik who don’t move a lot. In PvP they are okay and an additional grenade is always nice to have when you are in the Crucible. These aren’t the best Warlock exotic, but they offer enough in both sections of the game to warrant a purchase.

Trespasser

  • Secondary Weapon: Sidearm
  • Cost: 23 Strange Coins
  • Unique Perks: This weapon fires bursts of bullets with deadly accuracy / Reloading after a kill causes the next burst to be a longer, more powerful super burst.

The Trespasser is a nasty sidearm that can do some serious damage in the right hands. While the recoil can take a bit to get used to, this is a weapon that is capable of easily killing opponents in both PvE and PvP. However, you will want to make sure to run complimenting exotics like the Ophidian Aspects to maximize its effectiveness in combat. We seriously recommend buying this, as getting one via a drop is incredibly tricky. Just make sure to run the Nightfall first before you purchase one, just to be safe that it doesn’t come up as an end of activity reward.

Xur’s items this week consisted of a lot of good PvP gear, but sadly the PvE side of Destiny was left out this week. For those hoping for a Nemesis Star, you will have to wait or buy more Three of Coins packs. Hopefully, next week he will bring some gear that will help out the raiding and Nightfall side of the community and not just those who play in the Crucible. See you next week Guardians!
