‘Pokemon Go’ Halloween Event: How to Get Bonus Candy

Pokemon Go Halloween event, Pokemon Go Halloween, Pokemon Go Halloween announcement

‘Pokemon Go’ will have a special Halloween event from October 26th through November 1st. (Niantic)

Special Halloween festivities are coming to Pokemon Go this week, and as is appropriate for a holiday associated with sugary treats, users will be able to get more candy than usual. How will these bonuses be handed out?

According to Niantic, from October 26th through November 1st, players will receive double the candy for hatching, catching or transferring Pokemon. You normally get three candy for catching a Pokemon, so during Halloween, you’ll instead be getting six candies. Plus, transferring a Pokemon will now earn you two candies. In terms of hatching eggs, throughout the Halloween event, hatching a 2km egg will get you 20 candies, hatching a 5km egg will get you 40 candies, and hatching a 10km egg will get you 60 candies.

But there’s more: for walking your buddy Pokemon, you will get four times the amount of candy as usual. Normally, walking a certain distance with a buddy Pokemon will earn you a single piece of candy, but during Halloween week, it will get you four pieces. The following chart shows exactly how far you will have to walk with each buddy in order to get four pieces of candy during Niantic’s special event.

Pokemon Go is available for iOS and Android devices. A new update has just been released for the game as of October 24th, making a few changes including to the way eggs work.

  1. Walking 5km will earn 4 Dratini Candy, or 1.25km per Dratini candy. Perhaps the distance you have quoted in your table is in miles? (5km = 3.1mi) rather than the Km stated in the table header
