The new Pokemon Go update is about to be released for iOS and Android.

Niantic announced on its website today that Version 0.41.2 for iOS and 1.11.2 for Android is beginning to roll out, and so although most players don’t have the update quite yet, it should appear in the app stores any minute now. What’s new this time around?

This update adds two big features that were originally announced by Niantic last week. The first is something called a catch bonus. How this works is that as players receive medals, which are given out for catching many of the same type of Pokemon, it will then become easier to catch that Pokemon type in the future. Catch a lot of fire Pokemon, for example, and this will increase the likelihood of catching other fire Pokemon. In theory, the new feature gives players an even greater incentive to go after low-leveled Pokemon.

The second addition is a major alteration to gym training. Now, players can bring up to six Pokemon with them to train at a friendly gym. This will obviously alter trainers’ strategies quite a bit, although exactly how it will do so, and whether the change will be good or bad, will be determined once everyone starts getting their hands on the update.

Another big change is that the evolution animation time has been decreased. That might not sound all that significant, but it’s something a lot of players have been complaining about since the game first launched three months ago. And it does make a difference when it comes to planing lucky egg sessions. A popular strategy for gaining a lot of XP is to activate a lucky egg and then evolve as many Pokemon as possible during the subsequent 30 minutes. It’s unclear what the new animation time is, but now, it will be possible to evolve even more eggs during that half-hour.

Here are the full patch notes as released by Niantic.
