Pokemon Go players are reporting that they’ve found Ditto. Where and when was Ditto captured? He was first announced on Reddit by Kvothealar, and other players quickly joined in with their own sightings.

Here’s what you need to know.

Ditto Was First Found on the Evening of November 22

The Silph Road has confirmed the find with an excited tweet.

According to Pokemon Go players on Reddit, Ditto has already been found by multiple people. One player, Kvothealar, reported that they were capturing a “dumb Rattata” in Canada and got a cutscene, only to discover that their Rattata had turned into Ditto. Kvothealar was the first person on Reddit who reported capturing a Ditto, and shared about the experience with Heavy:

After I caught it, a cutscene popped up with the Ratatta transforming to a Ditto. Then it went as normal. It seems to be random chance if you catch one. I caught it on the University of Guelph campus. The entire campus is lit up with lures right now in celebration.”

Another player reported the same thing happened while capturing a Rattata. (To see more photos of Ditto, please see our story here.)

Here’s a picture of Ditto from one of the first people who found him:

So it appears that if you want to capture Ditto, you can find him almost anywhere.

Players Are Reporting Finding Ditto in All Different Pokemon Species and in Countries All Over the World

Rattatas aren’t the only source for finding Ditto. Other players have reported finding Ditto while capturing a Pidgey. After capturing the Pidgey, one player said he saw an animation that showed the Pokemon turning into Ditto. Another player found Ditto while capturing a Zubat. According to The Silph Road, Ditto may be able to transform from almost any Pokemon species.

Ditto has also been spotted in Harlem, New York and in Walnut Creek, California and other locations. Another player reported finding Ditto in Australia. Players have also reported finding him in Pier 39 San Francisco, Brighton UK, and more.

Jennifer Ford from Marblehead, Massachusetts told Heavy that she a 20 CP Magikarp that she caught in Massachusetts transformed into a 158 CP Ditto. If you haven’t found Ditto yet, don’t give up!

Here’s a list of some of the many places where Ditto has been found so far:

  • Walnut Creek, California
  • San Francisco, California and other cities in California like LA
  • Westminster, Colorado and other cities in CO, including Littleton
  • Savannah, Georgia
  • Wailuku, Hawaii, Honolulu, and other cities in Hawaii
  • Davenport, Iowa
  • Batavia, Illinois and other cities, including Norridge
  • Essex, Maryland
  • Marblehead, Massachusetts
  • Kentwood, Michigan and other cities
  • Buffalo, Minnesota
  • Kansas City, Missouri
  • Henniker, New Hampshire
  • Willingboro, New Jersey
  • Harlem, New York
  • Mooresville, North Carolina
  • Ohio
  • Medford, Oregon
  • Rhode Island (Warwick Mall)
  • Chester County, Pennsylvania
  • Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
  • Dallas, Texas and other cities in Texas, including Sherman
  • Virginia

And Ditto’s being found outside the U.S. too:

  • Argentina
  • Australia
  • Brazil
  • Canada
  • Ecuador
  • France
  • Germany
  • Japan
  • Netherlands
  • UK
  • Vietnam

And here’s a list of some of the many Pokemon species that players have reported Ditto has transformed from. So far, some Pokemon Go trainers believe that Ditto might only transform from 2 km Pokemon. However, that hasn’t been confirmed and there have been a few trainers who said they have spotted Ditto transforming from other non-2km species. These are Ditto’s most prevalent species so far:

  • Pidgey
  • Rattata
  • Zubat
  • Magikarp
  • Spearow

It appears that if you want to capture Ditto, you can find him almost anywhere. And he’ll transform from the most mundane of species, like Rattata or Pidgey. He also has been reportedly found from incense, so burn the incense to attract a potential Ditto. You can then use Ditto as a Buddy if you want. You can also capture more than one Ditto, so don’t stop after you’ve caught one.

Ditto Is Adopting the CP and Moves of the Species It Battles

According to The Silph Road, it looks like Ditto is adopting the species and moves of its foe in battle and can boost to similar CP. He may be capturable everywhere, as people are reporting finding him in multiple countries. You can watch a video of Ditto fighting in a gym here.
