‘Pokemon Go’ Gen 2 List: Which New Pokemon Are in the Code?

With the release of version 0.45.0, new code was found in the APK. The Silph Road revealed that 100 new Pokemon names are now referenced in the version 0.45 APK’s code. In addition, 52 new Pokemon families have also appeared. Trainers are speculating these may be part of Gen 2. So which Pokemon names were added?

Here’s what you need to know.

Pokemon Go trainers have revealed that Pokemon names from Pokedex #152 (Chikorita) to #251 (Celebi) have been added to the code. Movesets haven’t appeared with the new species, and moves aren’t yet in the code. This most likely means that a server-side update and a client-side (regular) update will be needed before these new Pokemon appear. Niantic has not yet made any official announcement either.

Because of the way the names have appeared, it’s impossible to know yet when Gen 2 will be released. When daily quests appeared in the code, for example, they were added to the game just a couple weeks later. But other items, like trading, have been referenced in the code almost since the beginning and the feature still isn’t available. So it’s anyone’s guess when — or if — these Gen 2 will appear in the game.

But while you’re waiting, take a moment to look at the names that have shown up, as shared by Reddit’s The Silph Road.
