Pokemon Go players rejoiced on Thursday when it was announced that Pidgey and Rattata will no longer hatch from eggs.

The news came from the official Pokemon Go Twitter page, with a tweet saying that “Professor Willow has discovered that Pidgey & Rattata no longer hatch from Eggs.” In addition, Eevee now only hatches from 5km eggs.

In the game, players can get more Pokemon by hatching eggs, of which there are three kinds: 2km, 5km and 10km. That figure represents how far you need to walk in order for the egg to hatch and give you a new Pokemon. But from day one, users have complained about the excruciating experience of walking several kilometers, only to get something extremely common like a Pidgey that you run into dozens of times per day already.

Now, this will no longer happen, as two of the most common Pokemon will not spawn from eggs at all anymore. Plus, Eevee, which was previously available in 10km eggs only, will now be showing up in 5km eggs.

On social media, Pokemon Go fans celebrated the news, something that has become increasingly uncommon with a game that fans are usually complaining about. Since its launch in July, Pokemon Go gone through server crashes, the removal of key features, a shrinking player base, and a lack of communication between the game designers and the users, causing many fans to give up on the app entirely.

But now, several additions have slowly gotten some of the hardcore fans back on board, such as the recent Halloween event followed by the announcement of daily quests that will give players an incentive to check in on the app daily.

On their Twitter account today, Niantic also said that players will now find “other Pokemon” where Pidgey, Rattata and Zubat were previously found.
