Niantic has announced that Pokemon Go trainers will now be able to find limited-edition holiday Pikachu. But when will this new feature get started? The good news is that it’s already happening.
Here’s what you need to know.
You don’t need to upload or wait for an update in order to take advantage of the latest change to Pokemon Go. Although many of Niantic’s announcements require days of waiting for the latest Pokemon Go update to show up in your Apple or Android store, that isn’t the case for this one. You don’t have to do anything to take advantage of the latest event.
In fact, trainers have already started spotting holiday Pikachu wearing cute little Santa hats in the wild. The Silph Road shared this tweet moments after Niantic made its announcement:

So it looks you can you already start finding Christmas Pikachu in the wild! They’ll show up on your Nearby tracking list when they’re in the area, but they’ll only be around until December 29 at 10 a.m. PST. Happy hunting!
