Niantic Labs is officially adding new Pokemon to Pokemon Go.

This news came in an announcement on the Pokemon Go social media channels today. In a statement, the game’s developer revealed that Togepi and Pichu will begin hatching from eggs starting on Monday, December 12th.

But that’s not all: the statement goes on to say that “several other Pokemon” will be available from eggs beginning on the 12th, with Niantic not actually telling players what the other new ones are. Apparently, they want us to figure that out.

It’s way too early to know with 100 percent certainty everything that has been added. After all, these Pokemon can only be hatched from new eggs, and so players will have to obtain additional eggs and then walk several kilometers before we begin figuring out exactly what Pokemon are now out there.

However, it seems that all of the new Pokemon that have been added are baby Pokemon, with a user of the Silph Road subreddit confirming that Igglybuff is now available. A separate Reddit user named PR3DA7oR was also able to confirm that Cleffa can now be hatched. Also, by looking at Pokedex entries for some Pokemon, the presence of other baby Pokemon can be confirmed.

Here are the Pokemon confirmed to have been added to the game today:

  • Togepi
  • Pichu
  • Igglybuff
  • Cleffa
  • Smoochum
  • Elekid
  • Magby

And here are all of the baby Pokemon whose presence in this new update has not been confirmed:

  • Tyrogue
  • Azurill
  • Wynaut
  • Budew
  • Chingling
  • Bonsly
  • Mime Jr.
  • Happiny
  • Munchlax
  • Riolu
  • Mantyke

We’ll have a more complete list soon, as players around the world will be working together in the coming days to collect all of the new Pokemon. Unfortunately, as mentioned above, you’ll need to collect new eggs for this purpose. That’s because the output of an egg is determined the moment you pick it up, not the moment you hatch it, and so any eggs obtained prior to the launch of these Pokemon won’t be affected by the update.

Have you caught any of the new baby Pokemon? Let us know in the comments section below!
