‘Resident Evil 7 biohazard’: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

Capcom’s virus-laden survival horror franchise has been through a whole bunch of up’s and down’s.

Resident Evil has taken its horrific travels from abandoned mansions to widespread global locations. Along with those location changes, its main gameplay has also changed from slower paced adventures to more bullet riddled blockbusters. The 7th official entry in the series looks to be a huge departure from what fans have come to know. But after spending an hour with this new horrifying endeavor, it’s clear that most of RE’s noteworthy elements will return. Along with the old, plenty of new will be present and make your next mansion crawl truly terrifying.

Here’s a complete breakdown of everything detailing the madness behind Resident Evil 7 biohazard.

1. This Sequel Transpires Four Years After RE6

Resident Evil 7 biohazard takes places in 2017, which places it four years after the traumatic events of Resident Evil 6. As Ethan Winters, you travel to Dulvey, Louisiana in search of your missing wife Mia. Ethan’s hunt takes him to an extra creepy mansion that houses the Baker Family, who decide to take Ethan prisoner. For instance, you’ll encounter one of those family members (Jack) and he gets his kicks by bludgeoning you to death. Your main goal entails surviving the vicious tactics of the Baker Family, escaping the mansion and hopefully finding out what happened to Mia.

2. Survival Horror is Front and Center Once Again

This sequel is a far cry from the big explosions and non-stop shooting the last few entries are known for. RE7 biohazard takes it back to the basics of the very 1st game by placing you in the middle of a mysterious mansion. You’ll play this new entry entirely in 1st-person or even decide to enter its ghastly environments with PlayStation VR. Locked doors impede your progress, animal-coded doors/puzzles are around every corner, ammo is scarce and all sorts of enemies hunt you down. Sometimes it’s best for you to flee rather than fight since most of the game’s walking horrors are hard to put down. And of course, your healing methods comes courtesy of the herbs you discover all over the mansion.

3. There’s a Huge Sense of Mystery Revolving Around This New Entry

RE7 biohazard doesn’t tell you about everything that’s going on from the very start. There’s a huge conundrum revolving around Ethan’s current predicament that you’ll eventually solve as the game moves forward. One of the more perplexing elements about the game is a mysterious woman who periodically checks in with Ethan to give him hints via telephone. She’ll pop up from time to time to push you in the right direction with her sometimes cryptic audio. Her true motives however are still up for debate…

If you played the demo, then you already know about the playable video tape sections that let you take control of other characters. These optional sections transport you to past events and gives you a good look into the rest of the mansion. Unlocking rooms and finding the solution to various puzzles entails picking up items such as animal shaped keys for matching doors. The mansion is huge, which means you’ll need to comb through every nook and cranny in order to find its biggest secrets.

4. Don’t Worry – Combat is Here and Accounted For

While the game itself is more along the lines of 1st-person horror adventures such as P.T., there’s a good amount of combative encounters to survive through. There will definitely be instances where you’ll need to haul ass from whoever’s hunting you down, but there’s also situations that push you to take down your hunter.

Ethan has access to firearms, such as a regular pistol and even a shotgun. Close quarters combat can be handled via your pocket knife accessory. There’s one major battle where you take on Jack; you and him are locked in a violent exchange within a small garage. A car and a host of other helpful tools can be found within this enclosed environment. Trust us when we tell you – you’re gonna need everything in your arsenal to get past Jack.
