Marvel vs. Capcom’s next entry is here, but now its numbered portion of the title has become “Infinite.”
MvC: Infinite is arriving in 2017 with a new Infinity Stone system, a return to 2v2 gameplay and a host of other mechanical improvements over the last game. But most importantly of all, a bunch of new faces are set to become a part of this new inter-promotional war. Since we’ve already gone into which Marvel characters we’d love to see in the game, it’s time to delve into which ones we’d love to see on the Capcom side. Now we all know just how legendary the house of Capcom is, so this roster wishlist roundup was tough. But we’re sure you’ll agree with our final choices.
Note: we’re pretty sure most of UMvC3’s past Capcom characters shall return, so this list will primarily focus on new faces and and returning characters we haven’t seen from the series in a while.
Gene (God Hand)
“You can wax on, wax off all you like. I’m still kicking your ass.” So says the master wielder of the God Hand. Gene knows how to lay in some of the most devastating punches ever seen in a video game, which makes his inclusion here a no-brainer for a fighting game. God Hand’s main hero has an impressive repertoire of outlandish moves that would get any live crowd watching hype. There’s the God Stomp, Ball Buster and La Bomba that immediately come to mind when we think of crazy Super Moves he can use. Gene is tailor made for MvC: Infinite.
Fou-Lu (Breath of Fire IV)
It may come as a bit of a shock for new gamers, but Capcom used to be responsible for producing a pretty respectable RPG series – Breath of Fire. This IP always had the ongoing elements of a main character named Ryu, a heroine named Nina and dragon transformations. Breath of Fire IV’s main antagonist is the one character we can think of who translates well to the “Vs.” line of Capcom fighters. He knows his way around a Royal Sword, plus he has a wealth of powerful water spells that could become his in-game special moves. And the fact that he can power up into his Dragon Form means he’s got a perfect Level Three just waiting to be unleashed.
Asura (Asura’s Wrath)
Asura’s Wrath was one of last generation’s more dramatic and flashier action games. Each chapter we played within the game gave us a chance to channel the unbridled anger Asura holds within. Playing that extra DLC chapter where Asura took on a few Street Fighter characters was so cool. Not only do we want to see him have a rematch with Ryu, we also want to see him butt heads with the rest of MvC: Infinite’s roster. Asura’s a demigod warrior with all types of different forms and strong combat skills. His “Wrath” needs to be felt and we’re pretty sure he’d make a great partner for anyone featured in this fighter.
We were heartbroken over the fact that Captain Commando got excluded from UMvC3. He was one of the best assists in the 1st two games, which is a move of his that was sorely missed in the last game. Capcom’s unofficial mascot is due for a comeback. There’s really no need to change up his moveset too much. Bring back his “Captain Collider,” “Captain Fire,” “Captain Kick” and his partner assists would look even more awe-inspiring with MvC: Infinite’s 3D visuals. Marvel has its Captain, so it makes sense for Capcom to have their Captain too.
Jin Saotome (Cyberbots: Full Metal Madness)
You know who else needs to make their series return? The loudest robot controller from Capcom’s Cyberbots – Jin Saotome. Jin was such a fun character to use and his inclusion in the 1st two games made us go back to play the game he originated from. He was sorely missed from UMvC3, so Capcom needs to rectify that mistake for this new entry. All that vigor and fire he sported before needs to be brought back in full. Jin’s flamed up offense, powerful mech-based Super Moves and hilarious half-naked taunt are what the gaming world needs once again.
