‘Overwatch’ Competitive Season 5 Start Date

(Blizzard)

With Overwatch’s fourth season wrapping up, you may be wondering when the next season will be starting back up. Luckily, you won’t have to wait very long because the new season starts May 31.

Competitive Season 5 will kick off May 31 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT. The season will be available on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The reward tiers remain the same and they are as follows:

  • Bronze – SR 1-1499: 100 CP
  • Silver – SR 1500-1999: 200 CP
  • Gold – SR 2000-2499: 400 CP
  • Platinum – SR 2500-2999: 800 CP
  • Diamond – SR 3000-3499: 1200 CP
  • Master – SR 3500-3999: 2000 CP
  • Grandmaster – SR 4000-5000: 3000 CP

Jeff Kaplan, Overwatch’s game director, has said a timer may be added in to inform players of the end date of the season. The game says seasons will last months but it would better to have a definitive start and end date or possibly start on the first of the month instead of during a month.

Overwatch is currently celebrating its one year anniversary with the aptly named Anniversary Event. The event runs until June 12 and will give players a chance at new legendary skins, dancing emotes, three new arena maps and two alterations on two existing game modes. The new modes are Limited Duel and Lockout Elimination, which are 1v1 and 3v3 respectively, and require players to pick their heroes wisely because once you win a round with a certain hero, that hero isn’t available for the next round.

Yesterday, Overwatch teased a possible new hero or map, possibly both, in a series of fictional messages involving Winston on the Horizon Lunar Colony. In on of the pictures, it shows Specimen 8 and 28 are missing – Winston and Hammond. Hammond could end up being another gorilla-based hero and the Horizon Lunar Colony could become a new map for the game. Jeff Kaplan, Overwatch’s game director, has confirmed six new maps are in the works so this a possibility for sure. Stay tuned for more details.
