‘Overwatch’: When Does Competitive Season 4 End?

Overwatch Zenyatta

Overwatch is full of chaotic, entertaining action and the best place to experience this is in the game’s Competitive Mode. This game type is for those looking to put their skills to the test in an environment where players are encouraged to try their hardest to win. However, unlike traditional ranked playlists, Competitive Mode is available in seasons. These seasons are typically three month long periods where users can try to climb up the leaderboards in order to obtain Competitive Points. This in-game currency is used to purchase special golden skins for the various weapons that each of the different heroes utilize such as Roadhog’s Hook and Scrap Gun.

In a post released yesterday, Overwatch’s Game Director Jeff Kaplan took to the forums and explained that Overwatch’s Competitive Season 4 is set to end sometime in late May. There was no specific date given, so if you want to get enough credits to unlock that golden gun there is little time to waste. Season 5 is aiming to start on the first of June, which would only leave a few days for the offseason where players can only earn experience. Remember when Season 4 ends you will earn a larger sum of competitive points based on what the highest rank you achieved was.

Here are the end of season rewards:

  • Bronze – SR 1-1499: 100 CP
  • Silver – SR 1500-1999: 200 CP
  • Gold – SR 2000-2499: 400 CP
  • Platinum – SR 2500-2999: 800 CP
  • Diamond – SR 3000-3499: 1200 CP
  • Master – SR 3500-3999: 2000 CP
  • Grandmaster – SR 4000-5000: 3000 CP

In Kaplan’s post, he also remarked about adding a timer to the next season in order inform players of when the next season would end. Given that there is normally never an exact time for when a competitive season will end, it’s possible this won’t give an exact time. Season 4 also marks the first time that players will need to be in Top 500 when Season 4 ends to be counted for the additional rewards, instead of simply reaching Top 500 sometime during the entire time frame.
