‘Overwatch’s’ Horizon Lunar Colony Map Hits PTR Today

After teasing us with a new map on Monday, Blizzard has released the new map Horizon Lunar Colony today on the Public Test Realm. The map is indeed set on the moon. You can get more information about the map in the above video, as narrated by Winston. The Public Test Realm is only available for PC players of Overwatch. Once it works out its kinks in the PTR, the map will debut on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

If you want to join the Public Test Realm, you can follow these steps as found on Overwatch’s website:

Step 1: Restart the Battle.net desktop app.
Step 2: Navigate to the Overwatch tab on the left-hand menu.
Step 3: Select “PTR: Overwatch” from the REGION/ACCOUNT drop-down menu.
Step 4: Click “Install” to begin the installation process.
Step 5: Once the PTR client is installed and updated, click “Play” to begin!

This is the description that was included with the video uploaded to YouTube:

Horizon Lunar Colony is an Assault map set in a scientific base on the moon. Built as a first step towards humanity’s renewed exploration of space, the colony’s goal was to examine the effects of prolonged extraterrestrial habitation—on human and ape alike. The scientists’ research proved incredibly promising…until, suddenly, all contact and communications with the base were lost.

Now, many years later, attacking and defending teams must return to the moon and battle for control of the colony’s facilities, all while they discover clues as to the fate of its previous inhabitants.

There is still a chance that the other gorilla mentioned in the messages from Monday, Hammond, could be released into the game as a new hero. The messages did show that both Winston and Hammond were unaccounted for we all know where Winston ended up.

Jeff Kaplan, Overwatch’s game director, has said six new maps are in development for the game so it looks like this will end up being one of those maps. Kaplan mentions a part of the map will have low gravity since the map is set on the moon. Overwatch will be introducing an option in Arcade Mode that will all players to add low gravity to all maps. You can listen to all the information in the video below.

In other Overwatch news, the Anniversary event is currently in full swing and the Competitive Season 5 starts today. It’s a good day to be a fan of Overwatch.
