‘Sonic Mania’ Release Date Announced

Sonic Mania is releasing August 15, 2017.

A pre-order trailer for the game was revealed featuring beautiful animation done by Sonic the Hedgehog Comic Artist and Nickelodeon Storyboard Artist Tyson Hesse with music done by Hyper Potions. The trailer is reminiscent of the opening scene from Sonic CD and also made clever nods to Sonic’s origins as a rabbit and references to the “& Knuckles” meme from Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles.

The trailer also shows off some of the zones featured in the game, from zones already confirmed like the remastered Green Hill Zone and Studiopolis to a music level and a jungle level.

The release date was actually leaked last Friday when a trailer was accidentally uploaded to the European Steam store, according to GameXplain.

Sonic Mania is a throwback to the original SEGA Genesis games developed in partnership with popular Sonic fan game maker Christian Whitehead and Developers Headcannon and PagodaWest Games.

The collector’s edition of Sonic Mania as well as the digital editions are now available to pre-order. The game is coming to PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Sonic Forces, the latest game from Developer Sonic Team allowing you to play as your own custom character, is coming holiday 2017.
