‘Madden 18’ GOAT Edition: Release Date, Features & Price

Hardcore Madden fans are eyeing the G.O.A.T. edition of the game which allows fans to get the new game on August 22, three days earlier than the official release on August 25. G.O.A.T. is a term often used in sports to describe the best in the game and stands for Greatest of All-Time.

Operation Sports’ Steve Noah tweeted out the details of the expanded edition.

The G.O.A.T. includes several items in addition to being able to play the game early. With the purchase of the G.O.A.T. edition, fans get 1 elite player from your favorite team, 12 Madden Ultimate Team squad packs, one of five elite G.O.A.T. players, 2,500 contracts and one Ultimate Team uniform pack.

GameStop is listing the Madden 18 G.O.A.T. Edition for $79.99 on both PS4 and Xbox One. Tom Brady will be on the cover of both the standard and G.O.A.T. editions.

EA Sports released the trailer on Friday, May 12. One of the big reveals was the addition of what fans are calling a Story Mode.

It is a unique RPG element that has been successful in other sports franchises like NBA2K and FIFA. Click here to check out Heavy’s breakdown of Story Mode and what we know so far about the mode.

Madden 18 will have three different modes for players to choose from: arcade, simulation and competitive. Arcade mode will have limited penalties and is aimed at fans who enjoy scoring. Simulation mode will be for fans of the franchise mode with everything staying true to the ratings of teams and players as well as NFL official rules. Competitive mode, as the name suggests, will be aimed at the competitive gamer.

The game is also getting bit of a visual boost with the Frostbite engine. Fans are expected to notice the most difference when it comes to stadium designs, crowd visuals as well as the sidelines of each team during games.
