E3 2017: ‘Battlefield 1’ In the Name of the Tsar Details Revealed

Battlefield 1

Battlefield 1 is one of the most popular multiplayer shooters in recent memory thanks to developer DICE’s focus on strong gameplay and expanding upon its World War I setting. The newest expansion seeks to deliver some new experiences for players along with building on the strong multiplayer foundation of the core game. Called “In the Name of the Tsar,” this expansion includes 6 new maps and lets players fight as brand new factions including the Russian Army. However, the big addition is that users will be able to play as a female for the first time via the Women’s Battalion of Death.

We also know that DICE are changing how they support Battlefield 1, with players receiving monthly free content including new maps and various in-game events. The first new map coming to players in June is Nivelle Night, which is a large battle between the German and French armies. This area features two large trenches that are controlled by each team, with two neutral points located in No Man’s Land. Battlefield 1’s newest map is also set during the evening, meaning that players will need to be very cautious when crossing open ground. Prise de Tahure is the next map and it tasks players with holding the Butte-de-Tahure region from attacks.

In the Name of the Tsar will also include new vehicles, 11 weapons, Operations, persistence, and a new game mode called Supply Drop. All we know about this game type is that players will receive items via planes passing overhead the battlefield. Players will also get to use more weapons while on horseback such as a powerful spear to impale your enemies with. There will also be two additional expansions with Turning Tides releasing in December and Apocalypse coming out sometime in 2018.

Battlefield 1 In the Name of the Tsar is set to release on Xbox One, PC, and PS4 sometime in September.
