Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy: How to Slide/Dash

The Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy has officially released and it’s looking to bring all of its retro glory back to your living room. While players will no doubt be familiar with the jumping, spinning, and dodging that this chaotic mascot is known for, one important mechanic is curiously never detailed. Known as the slide or dash, this move allows players to quickly move across the ground with little effort.

To slide, players need to be moving in a certain direction and then tap R1 to send Crash launching forward. The catch is that users will have a very minimum amount of directional movement, so if you are trying to slide in more precise locations there’s a high chance you will die. The slide is perfect for when you want to cover ground quickly during chase sections where there is a lot of pen space to move. It’s the fast move in Crash’s arsenal, so feel free to use it liberally when you’re playing.

It’s important to note that the slide move is only available in Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back and Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped. If you want to play the original then don’t expect to be dashing anytime soon. One great use for the slide is when you are trying to nab all the collectibles since many of the levels later on in these games have branching paths. Since it can be a pain to keep backtracking, use the slide to quickly go back to the fork in the road.

Remember, if you are not moving when you click R1 then Crash will crouch and slowly crawl along the ground instead. To ensure this doesn’t happen, just tap the R1 button when moving instead of holding it down so you don’t start crouching at the end of the slide animation. After some practice with this move, you will be sliding all over the place with ease and breaking those precious crates.
