Splatoon 2 Is Getting a New Weapon Tomorrow (Updated)

Nintendo

Splatoon 2 may only be a week old but that hasn’t stopped the free content from rolling out. The game is fresh off a patch that helped balance things but we’ve already seen a new weapon too in the Inkbrush.

UPDATE: It looks like the weapon is now live.

Tomorrow morning, the game will receive another update that will add another new weapon into the game. That new weapon will be the Dualie Squelchies, which are another take on the Splat Dualies, a new weapon to Splatoon 2.

These new weapons resemble power drills more than weapons but they are similar to the Dual Squelcher found in Splatoon 1. The range and fire rate are exactly the same but these are different because they are split into two guns instead. For fans of the Dual Squelcher, this new weapon will probably be the closest match you’ll find in Splatoon 2.

We don’t know the exact time the update will happen but we know it will be some time tomorrow morning. By this time tomorrow, the weapon should be live in the game.

In other Splatoon 2 news, we’ve learned that the game has managed to sell 670,955 copies in Japan during its first three days of sale, and only counting physical copies. To put that in perspective, Splatoon 1 managed 156,610 copies sold in its first four days, and topped out with just over 1.5 million copies sold. This means that Splatoon 2 almost hit half of Splatoon 1’s lifetime sales in three days.

We also have some information about the next Splatfest coming to the game. The next Splatfest is coming some time next month and pits Mayo against Ketchup. Players still have plenty of time to familiarize themselves with the game before they dive into this new Splatfest.

Since a lot of Splatoon 2’s longevity will depend on these Splatfests, Nintendo has promised to keep them going for at least two years. This gives us Splatfests for twice as long as its predecessor and it will also be a way to keep players interested. The free DLC will continue as well, as evidenced by this new gun.
