7. Mana
• Mana is the amount of magic you have to use. The lower your mana, the less power you have. Once you run out of Mana, your movement will slow down, you won’t be as powerful and you won’t be able to levitate or jump as high. Mana does recharge, but the more of it you can get, the better. This will allow you to fire off more shots before it wastes out, after which you’d need to wait until it recharges. This can make all the difference, as having more fire-power during combat can be the difference between survival and death.
• The first island you visit, Florid Vale, contains plenty of Mana Charge. Along your journey, you’ll find other materials that help you so make sure you learn about each island as you go. And don’t forget – later in the game, make sure you travel to the islands you need to in order to help you out in the end.
8. Remember to Mine

• Different precious stones that can be mined to charge different spells. For now, let’s focus on the Radiant Stalk. The Radiant Stalk is powered by Mana Charge, a purple rock that can be found in caves and on the side of cliffs and mountains. Mine them by shooting them with Spark Shot and collect them to increase the amount of charge the Radiant Stalk can use.
9. Look Out for Castles

• There are castles dotted around each island, so keep your eye out. Castles tend to contain chests that store crystals and other useful items that help you during the game.
10. Beware of the Night; Know How to Get Back to Your Boat
• There’s a good reason to stay close to your boat when you first start learning the game. At night, Ghasts descend from the sky. This early into Rogue Islands, they’re too powerful to take on. As the sun goes down you make your way back to your boat and stay safely inside the ship until the next morning via the hatch (F key/A button). The longer you survive, the better you’ll do.
11. Every Island Has a Unique Challenge

• When you first visit each island, there is a challenge you need to complete. On Florid Vale, this means finding the Demon Portal. It will change position if you die, so make sure you have enough Nightmares. Some of the challenges may mean finding the right route, or encountering large hordes of enemies to defeat. Some may also try to kill you just to enter them.
