Another update, another plethora of changes. This time the latest update added in a new consumable item but it’s not what you think it is. When you think of consumables you’ll usually thing of something you eat or drink. While that may be the case here, this consumable does something a little different.
This new update, dubbed patch 1.8.2, added in a way for players to disguise themselves as a bush. Hiding in the bushes around the map have already been a common tactic to help players stay alive and get the jump on unsuspecting foes. Things have now been turned up a notch higher.
The Bush won’t be a common drop by any means but will actually be very rare. Here is what Epic Games wrote about the Bush in their patch notes:
- The Bush consumable camouflages the player as an inconspicuous bush.
- The Bush is a one-time use item that is destroyed if the player wearing it takes any damage, including damage from the storm.
- The Bush can only be found in chests and supply drops.
- Legendary rarity.
This means you won’t be finding this rare consumable where Shield Potions and Slurp Juice are found. You’ll instead have to check all of those glowing chests and supply drops. Once you find the Bush, it will enter your inventory like every other item. The Bush drops in stacks of two so you’ll be able to drop one and share with a partner. It remains on your character until you get shot meaning you can put it on and run all the way across the map with it if you wanted.
Although it disappears if you take damage, you will still be able to shoot from it and still have it on. There will certainly be a mixed reaction on the Bush at first as many will claim it is overpowered while many will defend its honor. Since it has only been available for a day, we’re willing to let things play out for a bit before we make our judgment.

We can say one thing for sure, it looks like a ton of fun if you’re the one actually in the Bush. From an opposing point of view, it certainly does look like a normal bush so it will obviously be frustrating to be killed by one. One simple way to remedy this situation is to start shooting at every bush you come across.
The Season Shop also received an update with this patch. As you level up throughout Season One you’ll now have more access to items. One new glider, one new pickaxe and two new outfits have been added to the shop.
- Level 5 – Glider : Aerial Assault One
- Level 15 – Outfit : Aerial Assault Trooper
- Level 20 – Outfit : Renegade Raider
- Level 35 – Pickaxe : Raider’s Revenge
The pump shotgun also received a nerf with this patch. It doesn’t look like you’ll be able to pull off long ranged kills with ease anymore. Here’s what happened with the shotgun:
Adjusted Pump Shotgun falloff damage.
- 100% damage up to 7.68 meters
- 70% damage at 18 meters
- 20% at 30 meters
- 0% at 41 meters
