Ludicolo, Aggron, and Salamence were seen in the announcement video but neither them nor their other evolutionary forms are currently in the game. Spheal and Wingull made an appearance in the Holiday loading screen so while they and their other evolutions are not currently in the game they may come with this year’s holiday event.

Original Story: 50 Pokemon from generation three are arriving to Pokemon Go later this week with more rolling out over the next several weeks, according to Niantic. This is of course in addition to the five Pokemon, Sableye, Duskull, Dusclops, Shuppet, and Banette, who came to the game during this year’s Halloween event.

The team didn’t specify all 50 of the Pokemon coming to the game from generation three of the Pokemon series (Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald), but from what they shared so far and what we have from previous reports we can make some predictions.

We’ll update the article with the official list once the update rolls out.

The blog post mentions that the three starter Pokemon, Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip, are coming so we can assume that their evolutions are coming as well.

The reveal trailer for gen three has players finding the Pokemon Salamence, Shiftry, Aggron, Ludicolo, and the Raid Boss Groudon. So we know that those Pokemon as well as their previous evolutions are coming as well.

In a previous report from November, we said that dataminers have found the visual effect files for seven new moves from the 0.81.1 version of the game. Those moves are Doom Desire, Draco Meteor, Psycho Boost, Surf, Waterfall, Yawn, and Take Down.

Doom Desire and Psycho Boost are the exclusive moves for the gen three Legendary Pokemon Jirachi and Deoxys respectively in the main Pokemon games, indicating that they may come with the 50 Pokemon arriving this week most likely as Raid Bosses alongside Groudon.

Yawn was a move introduced in gen three, according to Bulbapedia. The gen three Pokemon that know the move are Poochyena, Mightyena, Slakoth, Slaking, Gulpin, Swalot, Numel, Camerupt, Chimecho, and Relicanth. So that could mean that those 10 Pokemon could be coming as well (along with Vigoroth, the evolution between Slakoth and Slaking). Torkoal and Spheal can also learn the move via breeding but that doesn’t exist in Pokemon Go.

In addition to Mudkip, Marshtomp, Swampert, Lotad, Lombre, Ludicolo, Aggron, and Relicanth, the Pokemon Zigzagoon, Linoone, Pelipper, Exploud, Makuhita, Hariyama, Azurill, Carvanha, Sharpedo, Wailmer, Wailord, Barboach, Whiscash, Corphish, Crawdaunt, Feebas, Milotic, Spheal, Sealeo, Walrein, Clamperl, Huntail, Gorebyss, and Luvdisc all know the move Surf, according to Bulbapedia. The above Pokemon also know Waterfall, according to the site. As for Take Down, the Pokemon Zigzagoon, Aron, Lairon, Aggron, Carvanha, Numel, Camerupt, Swablu, Altaria, Chimecho, Relicanth, Luvdisc, Beldum, Metang, and Metagross all know the move according to the site. This could be an indication that those Pokemon are coming to the game as well.

The existence of gen three Pokemon in Pokemon Go was first discovered in a datamine last August. A list of the names for all 135 Pokemon from gen three were found in the game’s code as well as 73 new candy families. So we know that all of the gen three Pokemon will be coming at some point.

From all of this information, I narrowed it down to the 50 Pokemon most likely to be included in the game in order of their appearance in the national Pokedex. An asterisk indicates Pokemon that are for sure confirmed to be coming to the game. I added in Wynaut since Azurill is possibly coming to the game and the baby Pokemon were some of the first Pokemon from gen two to be introduced to Pokemon Go.
