Lower Calorie Cocktails: Recipes from The Biggest Loser Resort

low calorie cocktail recipes

Mixed drinks are an easy way to add extra unwanted calories to your meals. Whether you’re on vacation or just hopping around summer BBQs and celebrations, not paying attention to how much alcohol you’re drinking is a sure way to sabotage bikini season.

For help with how to enjoy some seasonal, festive alcoholic drinks the healthy way, we turned to Rebekah Feemster, the Registered Nutritionist at the Biggest Loser Resort. In her work with the award-winning wellness resorts, she helps thousands of people learn how to make healthy choices and enjoy better lives. She shared these amazing tips with us, and also gave us some essential healthier cocktail recipes to sip this summer.

Top 3 Tips on How to Enjoy Lower-Calorie Cocktails:

1. Stick to ONE serving of alcohol per mixed drink (1.5 oz).

2. Avoid sugary, high-calorie mixers. Instead, try using Crystal Light Pure (uses stevia and no artificial sweeteners for only 15 calories per serving) or La Croix sparkling waters (0 calories, no artificial sweeteners) for flavor.

3. Avoid tonic and always choose soda water instead.

4. Choose wine and beer over mixed drinks for easier portion control and less sugar additives (4 oz wine, 12 oz beer).
