Alves, Fitch Booked for UFC 115 Rematch

Thiago Alves isn’t going to let a little thing like brain surgery keep him from fighting for very long.

UFC President Dana White confirmed on Twitter that Alves and Jon Fitch will pair up at UFC 115 in June. Alves and Fitch were originally scheduled to face off at UFC 111 earlier this month before Alves was pulled from the show due to irregularities discovered in his CAT scan.

Alves and Fitch last faced off in the summer of 2006, when Fitch won by a second-round TKO. The winner of the rematch will put himself incredibly close to a title shot at Georges St. Pierre. Fellow welterweights Josh Koscheck and Paul Daley are also in the championship mix; the pair will face off at UFC 113. Rumors have circulated that the winner will be selected to coach against Georges St. Pierre on season 12 of “The Ultimate Fighter” and receive a title shot at the end of the season.

UFC 115 takes place on June 12 at General Motors Place in Vancouver.
