The main event features a welterweight tilt between Diego “The Dream” Sanchez and Martin Kampmann.

TODD BROWN VS. IGOR POKRAJAC

Round 1:  Brown lands two hard leg kicks early before Pokrajac’s right hand and jab started finding their mark.  Brown wisely  decided to clinch and push Pokrajac against the cage.  Brown was able to land knees to Pokrajac’s thigh, but Cro Cop’s former training partner circled away.  The two briefly exchanged in the center of the Octagon before Brown clinched again.  Pokrajac uncorked a high kick that was partially blocked.  In the closing seconds of the round, Pokrajac dropped Brown with a knee and followed up with punches.  The fight should have been stopped.  Brown is slow getting up off the canvas between rounds.

The fight is stopped between rounds.

DAVE BRANCH VS. ROUSIMAR PALHARES

Round 1:  Branch established his jab early with his corner telling him to.  A minute in Palhares shot in for a takedown.  Branch sprawled and got top position but was nearly caught in an arm bar.  He escaped and worked inside Palhares’ active guard.  Palhares worked for a triangle choke, but Branch was able to fend it off.  Palhares did a good job of not taking damage.  He eventually secured a leg and went for a knee bar before transitioning to the foot.  The round ends.  Branch maintained top position but Palhares won the round with submission attempts on the Heavy.com scorecard.

Round 2:  Branch went back to working his jab.  Not much happened but circling for the first minute.  Palhares tried to get the fight to the ground, but Branch fended it off.  Palhares pulled guard and went for a leg securing a knee bar.  Branch taps out.

ROB KIMMONS AND DONGI YANG

Round 1:  Yang tried to pump his jab to start the round.  Kimmons worked to counter punch and ended up getting dropped with a right hand.  Yang followed him to the ground and landed a solid punch.  Yang advanced his position, mounting Kimmons.  Kimmons gave up his back and Yang punished him with strikes before trying to choke him out.  Kimmons showed his toughness escaping the choke and got back to his feet.  Yang had his back standing while Kimmons unleashed wild back elbows.  Yang got him down and mounted him again.  As the round ended, Yang was working on a kimura.  Easy round to score, it was all Yang.  Heavy.com scores the round 10-9 for Dongi Yang.

Round 2:  Yang worked a couple of leg kicks.  Kimmons executed a judo throw, putting Yang on his back.  Kimmons landed a series of short punches before being reversed.  Yang took his back and flattened him out.  Yang softened him up with punches, forcing Kimmons to roll.  Yang landed several punches, hammer fists and elbows while Kimmons offered nothing.  The referee finally stepped in to stop the one-sided beating.

REUBEN DURAN VS. TAKEYA MIZUGAKI

Round 1:  They feel each other out for about ten seconds before exchanging in the center of the Octagon.  Duran flurries on Mizugaki, landing at least two punches.  Duran landing left hooks as Mizugaki moves forward.  Mizugaki lunges in, landing a left hand.  They trade punches with Mizugaki winning that exchange.  Duran is timing when Mizugaki moves in and landing when he does.  Mizugaki lands two right hands in a row and a leg kick.  Duran seems to be the quicker fighter with his hands.  Duran doesn’t hesitate to let his hands go, but doesn’t appear to be hurting Mizugaki.  As the bell sounds, Mizugaki shot in for a double leg.  Heavy.com scores the round 10-9 for Duran.

Round 2:  Mizugaki misses with a big overhand right to start the round.  The two trade leg kicks.  The pace has slowed a bit this round.  Mizugaki moves in and Duran lands a combination but eats a right hand too.  Big combination by Mizugaki forces Duran to look to get the fight to the round.  He does, but Mizugaki gets top position.  Mizugaki presses him against the cage as Duran tries to use it to get back to his feet.  Duran gets back up and spins Mizugaki, putting his back against the fence.  Mizugaki powers Duran to the canvas and lands a few left hands.  Duran works his way back to his feet in the final seconds.  Heavy.com scored the round 10-9 for Mizugaki.

Round 3:  The touch gloves and quickly get to fighting.  Mizugaki lands an outside leg kick, and another.  Duran fires a right hand down the middle that lands.  Duran lands a leg kick and Mizugaki misses with a counter right hand.  They two throw big punches before Mizugaki takes Duran down.  At the half way point of the final round, Mizugaki works his ground and pound, landing a few big powerful elbow.  Duran struggles to get Mizugaki off of him.  Mizugaki takes his back, but Duran spins and has Mizugaki against the cage.  Mizugaki stands up and the two jockey for postion along the cage.  Duran, with his back against the fence, lands knees to Mizugaki’s thigh.  Mizugaki takes him down, but Duran gets back up and tries to make something happen.  The judges will decide this one.  Heavy.com scores the round 10-9 for Mizugaki and the fight for him 29-28.

SHANE ROLLER VS. THIAGO TAVARES

Round 1:  Roller lands a stiff jab to get the fight started.  He followed it up with two leg kicks.  Tavares misses with a right hand.  Roller presses forward behind his jab.  Tavares having to adjust to Roller’s reach.  And he does, landing a big right hand that stuns Roller.  Tavares moves in to finish, but Roller may not have been as badly hurt as he first looked.  Powerful outside leg kick by Tavares.  Roller tries for a takedown but Tavares has none of it.  The round ends with the two tied a long the cage.  Heavy.com scores the round 10-9 for Tavares.

Round 2:  Tavares countering Roller has he comes forward.  Tavares ducks under a punch and gets a takedown, but Roller quickly gets back to his feet.  Roller lands a right hand that puts Tavares down then finishes him on the ground.  Tavares completely out.  Wow!

DANNY CASTILLO VS. JOE STEVENSON

Round 1:  Stevenson moves forward with a jab.  Castillo tries for a takedown, but Stevenson easily brushes it off.  Castillo misses with a flying knee.  Stevenson applies a standing guillotine choke, but Castillo gets out.  Stevenson works for a single leg takedown.  Stevenson picks Castillo up, elevates him and slams him to the canvas.  Castillo works his way back to his feet, but Stevenson puts him in another guillotine and pulls guard.  Castillo escapes and is in Stevenson’s guard.  Stevenson tries an arm in guillotine, but again doesn’t get it.  Castillo stands up and Stevenson follows.  Stevenson slaps on another guillotine, and Castillo gets out.  They’re back standing.  Castillo unleashes a combination that lands.  He follows up with an uppercut.  Castillo tries another flying knee as the bell sounds.  Heavy.com scores the round 10-10.

Round 2:  Castillo misses with a winging combination.  Castillo ducks under a punch and clinches briefly.  The two exchange stiff jabs.  Castillo is definitely winning the striking.  Outside leg kick by Castillo.  Stevenson misses with a left and shoots for a takedown.  Stevenson gets the slam and lands in Castillo’s half guard.  Stevenson works to pass his guard while Castillo controls his head.  Stevenson postures up and lands an elbow.  Castillo throwing and landing elbows from the bottom.  Castillo scrambles back to his feet and lands an illegal knee to Stevenson.  The fight is restarted with just under 30 seconds remaining.  Castillo misses with a flying knee.  Stevenson presses forward.  The round ends.  Heavy.com scores the round 10-9 for Stevenson with the takedowns.

Round 3:  They touch gloves and the final round is underway.  Castillo with a body shot and an outside leg kick.  Stevenson with a jab and goes for a takedown.  Castillo spins him, but Stevenson powers forward looking for a single leg.  The two are clinched along the cage.  Stevenson looking to lock up a guillotine but it’s not there.  Castillo goes for a takedown.  He gets it but Stevenson puts him in a guillotine. Castillo pops his head free.  Castillo takes Stevenson’s back as he tries to stand.  Castillo with a takedown with under a minute left in the round.  Stevenson gets back to his feet, but isn’t free of Castillo.  Castillo pulls off a suplex.  The round ends.  Heavy.com scores the round 10-9 for Castillo.  The judges will total their cards.

Danny Castillo defeated Joe Stevenson by unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28).

CYRILLE DIABATE VS. STEVE CANTWELL

Round 1:  Cantwell with a leg kick.  Diabate answers with one of his own.  Cantwell pumping his jab trying to find his range.  Diabate with a kick to the body, and another.  Cantwell catches the second one and takes him down.  Cantwell inside Diabate’s half guard.  He lands a couple of punches and an elbow before standing over the downed Diabate.  Diabate gets back to his feet.  Lead left hand by Diabate and misses with a knee.  A jab and flying knee by Diabate.  Cantwell misses with a high kick.  Leg kick by Diabate.  Cantwell drops down for a takedown but Diabate throws him to the side and stuns him with an uppercut, knocking Cantwell down.  The round ends.  Heavy.com scores the round 10-9 for Diabate.

Round 2:  Diabate looks comfortable in there.  Lands a leg kick and a combination.  Diabate with a kick to the body and Cantwell tries to get the fight to the round.  Diabate fends it off but lands a few shots on Cantwell before letting him up.  Double jab by Diabate.  Cantwell lands a counter right hand, but Diabate is picking him apart on the feet.  Cantwell tries again to get the fight to the ground, but Diabate gains superior positon .  Tehy get back up and Diabate continues to land a variety of strikes from knees to kicks to punches.  Cantwell gets a takedown stuffed.  His face is battered and tells the tale of the fight so far.  Heavy.com scores the round 10-9 for Diabate.

Round 3:  Diabate lands a leg kick and Cantwell fires off a high kick that partially lands.  Diabate throws three left hands in a row.  Another leg kick by Diabate and a straight left.  Diabate lands a knee to the body, and another.  He follows that up with a left-right combination to the chin of Cantwell.  Cantwell shoots for a takedown and gets stuffed.  Diabate lands two hard leg kicks and a combination.  Cantwell has no answer for Diabate.  Knee to the body by Diabate.  He’s landing at will.  Cantwell shows his toughness by taking it all.  The round ends.  This one should be 30-27 for Diabate.  We’ll see what the judges say.
