Junior Assuncao vs. Eddie Yagin Set For UFC 135

Assuncao returns to face former Tachi champ

A featherweight bout between the returning Junior Assuncao and former Tachi Palace Fights champ Eddie Yagin is in the works for UFC 135.

MMAjunkie.com first reported the news on Wednesday morning.

UFC 135, headlined by a light heavyweight title clash between Jon Jones and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, takes place Sept. 24 at the Pepsi Center in Denver.

Yagin scored a submission win over former Bellator champion Joe Soto just three weeks ago at Tachi Palace Fights 10. He trains with Dominick Cruz and company at Alliance MMA in San Diego, Ca.

Assuncao will be making his second trip through the UFC ranks, though the first was at lightweight. He went 1-2 during his initial run in the promotion, but has won seven of his last eight fights and will return as a featherweight.

The Assuncao/Yagin bout will be on the Facebook-streamed preliminary card.
